- New (?) Bucs running back Bobby Rainey ran wild with 144 yards on 22 carries plus three catches for 30 yards. With Doug Martin hurt, and in the dog house, Rainey should produce this year but we wouldn’t count on hims as a dynasty option…yet.
- The good news for Zac Stacy owners is he carried the ball three times as much as Benny Cunningham. The bad news was it was only for 3.7 YPC and 71 yards total. Stacy continues to be a volume runner that shouldn’t be considered anything more than a RB2 in dynasty.
- Rams receiver Brian Quick continues to have a strong outings, leading the team in targets, catches and yards with seven for 74 yards on nine targets. The Rams aren’t expected to contend this year which could lead to garbage time stats for Quick. Quick will be around St. Louis for at least one more year and could benefit even more with better quarterback play.

Dynasty Impact: St. Louis Rams selects Greg Robinson, OT
Dynasty Impact: A mauler of a left tackle, Robinson will be an immediate upgrade in run protection for the Rams. Slated to start the season at left guard to open his career, Robinson will eventually take over the left tackle position. This will bode extremely well for incumbent running back Zac Stacy with the Rams playing in a tough division full of top defenses. A potential Pro Bowler, the 6′ 5″, 332-pounder will also provide some much-needed protection for quarterback Sam Bradford or whoever ends up being the quarterback long-term. Robinson is also surprisingly quick with a sub-5.00 40-time at the combine. Still young and will need some coaching but will be a fantastic tool for all the Rams specialists.
Daily Dynasty Update – March 27th
- The Packers are preparing to break out receiver Jarrett Boykin as a replacement to James Jones. He’ll be a hot dynasty commodity heading in to 2014.
- In a small upset, defensive end Jared Allen signed with the Bears. He’s nowhere near the top IDP lineman, as he was a few years ago, but should still be a probably double-digit sack candidate. The Bears also signed Lamarr Houston to draw most of the attention on the line which should free Allen up.
- Rams coach Jeff Fisher expects running back Zac Stacy to get 70% of the carries in St. Louis. That’s welcome news to Stacy dynasty owners and should make Stacy a low-end RB1/high-end RB2 option for a few years.
- Giants coach Tom Coughlin still has to solve his tight end question, leaving Adrien Robinson’s dynasty potential flapping in the wind. Look for New York to draft a tight end at some point.
- Coughlin also added he sees new running back Rashad Jennings as an every-down back. Jennings’ stock will never be higher and might be an asset to trade in dynasty leagues for win-now teams.
- In other workhorse back news, new Bucs coach Lovie Smith confirmed Doug Martin is his man. Martin will be in-line for RB1 running back duties in dynasty leagues this year.
Daily Dynasty Update – January 18th
- Rams running back Daryl Richardson, widely expected to be the starter for 2013, was suffering from turf-toe the entire season which contributed to his lack of effectiveness. Despite his 3.1 YPC last year, the Rams will give Richardson another chance to prove his worth. No one is bumping incumbent Zac Stacy but Richardson could be a decent handcuff, if he recovers completely.
- Current Packers running back James Starks could be an option for the Giants next year. Starks could possibly fill the void if David Wilson can’t make a complete comeback. This would dramatically increase Starks’ value over his current situation in Green Bay.
- Another Packer that could make the leap to the Giants is tight end Andrew Quarless. The free agent is primarily an in-line tight end but did well in the passing game last year. He couldn’t be a whole lot worse than current Giants starter Kevin Boss who ranked 52nd among all tight ends last year, according to Pro Football Focus.
Updated Dynasty Running Back Rankings – January 2014
Click here for updated dynasty running back rankings.
- The top two remain the same as the Eagles LeSean McCoy takes the top spot with Jamaal Charles of the chiefs not far behind.
- After that, rookies are making the most noise with the Packers Eddie Lacy shooting up to 4th from 10th. He proved he could carry the load in Aaron Rodgers absence. The Rams Zac Stacy enters the top ten after bursting on the scene halfway through the season. He’ll be the lead back in St. Louis in 2014. The Steelers Le’Veon Bell also moved up to 13th from 17th. He might be the focal point of Pittsburgh’s offense next season.
- The big drops include the Ravens Ray Rice dropping from 8th to 14th largely due to his steep production drop this season. The hope is this season is an anomaly for Rice and not the norm. Colts running back Trent Richardson continues his fall from 12th to 17th. Don’t expect that to be the end for Richardson as I predict he’ll drop even further as the off-season goes on. Lions running back Reggie Bush also had a drop thanks to late season injuries and backup Joique Bell‘s emergence as a solid contributor.

Be sure to check out our updated running back rankings here.
- The top four remain the same with LeSean McCoy, Jamaal Charles, Adrian Peterson and Doug Martin. Shouldn’t be much change in the 2014 dynasty running back rankings either.
- The biggest riser this month were rookies Giovani Bernard (5) of Cincinnati and Zac Stacy (20) of the Rams along with New England pass specialist Shane Vereen (16). Both rookies were solid contributors all year and should have even more success in 2014 with more opportunities and earlier playing time. Vereen, with a whole year under his belt, should be a PPR monster.
- The drop continues to include Trent Richardson (12) who should be even lower heading in to 2014. Easily the year’s biggest disappointment.
Dynasty Recap – Week 16 – Rams beat Buccaneers, 23-13
- The Rams pounded the ball with Zac Stacy, giving him the ball 33 times for 104 yards, and a touchdown. Stacy will be an intriguing RB2 dynasty prospect heading in to 2014 and the Rams have shown they’re committed.
- Rams rookie receiver Stedman Bailey led the team in targets and catches with three out of five targets for 44 yards. He also had a 27 yard touchdown run. It wasn’t much but Bailey should be monitored in dynasty circles.
- Buccaneers receiver Vincent Jackson had five catches for 98 yards. Jackson is at 1,000 yards again with a 15+ YPC. Should Tampa draft a quarterback in the draft, Jackson’s stock will improve.
- Rams lineman Robert Quinn led the defense with three more sacks. He now has a league-leading 18 on the year and is establishing himself as the top-rated lineman in dynasty leagues.
- Buccaneers linebacker Lavonte David had 11 more tackles, giving him 137 for the year. He also added a fumble recovery. David is solidifying himself as a Tier 1 LB in dynasty heading in to 2014.
Dynasty Recap – Week 15 – Rams upset Saints, 27-16
- Even in a loss, Saints quarterback Drew Brees still has good fantasy games going 39 of 56 for 393 yards, a touchdown, and two interceptions. Brees will be a top five quarterback option in dynasty leagues for the foreseeable future.
- Rams rookie running back Zac Stacy ran wild, taking 28 carries for 133 yards and a touchdown. Stacy is an exciting, young player and should be considered a high-end RB2 heading in to 2014.
- Rams defensive end Robert Quinn continues his stellar season with two more sacks and a fumble recovery. That’s now 15 sacks on the season to lead the NFC. Quinn will be just 24 heading in to 2014 making him a DL1 in dynasty leagues.
Dynasty Recap – Week 13 – 49ers down Rams, 23-13
- 49ers quarterback Colin Kaepernick finally had all his weapons back but didn’t have as big a day as dynasty leaguers would have liked. Going 19 of 28 for 275 yards and a touchdown, and tacking on 21 yards rushing, Kaepernick is capable of playing better. It’ll be interesting to see what his production is the rest of the year.
- Rams rookie running back Zac Stacy had a decent game considering the competition and circumstances. Rushing 19 times for 72 yards, Stacy has an outside shot at 1,000 yards even though he wasn’t named the starter until October. He’ll be rated as a RB1 heading in to 2014.
- 49ers receiver Anquan Boldin had a good game with nine catches for 98 yards. Boldin is in a contract year and, most likely, playing somewhere else next year. It also, again, raises the question of just who Kaepernick will be throwing to in 2014.
- Rams linebacker James Laurinaitis is on pace for ‘just’ 120 tackles. But at just 27, he’s still a low-end LB1 or high-end LB2 and consistently gets tackles. Rookie linebacker Alec Ogletree is definitely flashier but Laurinaitis is more consistent.
Dynasty Fantasy Football – Week 12 – Rams beat up on Bears,
- Bears running back Matt Forte had another good outing with 77 yards rushing and seven catches for 40 yards. He also escaped what looked like could be a serious injury.
- The Rams running attacked looked impressive as well. Rookie Zac Stacy ran well again, taking 12 carries for 87 yards and a touchdown. After getting concussed, Benny Cunningham tacked on 109 yards on 13 carries and a touchdown. You’re looking at the Rams running back rotation for 2014.
- Bears receiver Brandon Marshall had a great day with 10 catches for 117 yards and a touchdown. Marshall is closing in on another 1,000 yard, 10 touchdown campaign.
- Rams rookie linebacker Alec Ogletree had a team-high 11 tackles with a pass defended. It was a nice bounce back game for Ogletree whose production tapered off in recent weeks.
- Rams defensive lineman Robert Quinn was a force with four tackles, a sack, a pass defended and a forced fumble then recovery then touchdown. Quinn is a legit DL1 in all formats.
