- It’s sounding like a broken record but Trent Richardson had another sub-par game with a 2.1 YPC on seven attempts. It’s officially time to buy-low on Richardson. Anyone treating him like anything other than a bust is crazy.
- Meanwhile, the Cardinals put Rashard Mendenhall back to the top of the depth chart and carried it 13 times for 54 yards and a touchdown for a respectable 4.2 YPC. Even though rookie Andre Ellington also had a good game with 50 yards on 10 carries, don’t expect him to overtake Mendenhall any time soon. Next year, on the other hand, hopefully the Arizona coaching staff sees the light.
- Cardinals receiver Michael Floyd hauled in all seven targets for 104 yards and a touchdown. Whether Larry Fitzgerald stays or goes, Floyd is a solid player.
- Cardinals linebacker Karlos Dansby continues his solid 2013 season with five tackles and an interception returned for a touchdown. Count me as one of those that didn’t believe Dansby had anything left but with 14 passes defended (including at least one in each game) to go along with his 87 tackles, he’s made himself relevant. I’d expect Arizona to re-sign the free agent after this season and try to keep their excellent defense in tact.

Dynasty Recap – Week 11 – Colts at Titans
- Titans quarterback Ryan Fitzpatrick had a decent night, going 22 of 28 for 222 yard and a touchdown. Even if the 30-year old plays well down the stretch, it will be Jake Locker or bust for the Titans.
- Colts running back Trent Richardson had another poor game, rushing for only 22 yards on eight carries. He did add 31 yards on five receptions. But if this is the type of game Richardson produces week-in and week-out, he’s a poor fantasy option and certainly not a RB1. He’s now entering buy-low territory if he keeps this kind of play up.
- Colts tight end Colby Fleener had his best game of the year with eight receptions for 107 yards. Hopefully this is the beginning of good things with Fleener.
- After not starting for the first half of the season, Titans linebacker Colin McCarthy has played well in the place of Moises Foku. He had 12 tackles in the game. He now has 38 in his last four games along with two tackles for a loss, one forced fumble and one interception.
Dynasty Recap – Week 9 – Colts come back against Texans, 27-24
- Houston quarterback Case Keenum threw for 350 yards, three touchdowns and zero interceptions on 20 of 34 passes. While the Indianapolis doesn’t have a great defense, it’s an impressive line against any team. Keenum could be a good young quarterback to pick up for your dynasty team if you can’t snag a quarterback in the draft.
- Colts running back Trent RIchardson only had eight carries with Indianapolis behind most of the game. However, he only had 2.5 YPC, continuing a bad trend of not getting over 4.0. It might be time to sell high on Richardson.
- Colts receiver T.Y. Hilton led the team with 12 targets, nine catches, 121 yards and three touchdowns. While the Texans season has gone down the tubes, the defense has still produced with a top defense in the league. Hilton is legit.
Dynasty Recap – Week 6 – Chargers down Colts, 19-9
- Chargers rookie receiver Keenan Allen continues to impress with nine catches for 107 yards. By far, he was the most targeted by Philip Rivers with 12. It looks like Allen will be a star.
- Colts running back Trent Richardson finally managed 4.0 YPC for the first time this season but only managed 40 yards on 10 carries. However, you have to be disappointed that he didn’t get at least more YPC against this Chargers defense.
- In encouraging news, Colts receiver T.Y. Hilton was targeted as much as Reggie Wayne with eight.
- Chargers quarterback Philip Rivers continues to play well with the injection of talent around him including Danny Woodhead and Keenan Allen. He had a 67% completion percentage with over 7.0 YPC and no interceptions. There’s no reason to believe Rivers won’t continue to play decent enough to be a QB2 for a few more years.
Dynasty Recap – Week 5 – Colts take down Seahawks, 34-28
- Through 20 games of his short career, running back Trent Richardson has a 3.5 YPC. It’s reasonable to think this may be it for Richardson and to possibly even sell high. Until he can prove he can take over games, he’s average.
- The merry-go-round continues in the Seattle receiving game as Golden Tate led the way this week with 11 targets followed by Doug Baldwin with nine. It will be interesting to see if Percy Harvin can step in and immediately take the targets away.
- Meanwhile, Colts receiver T.Y. Hilton had a breakout game with 140 yards and two touchdowns. He made the most of his six targets, grabbing five of them. He may finally be on the hook going forward and should be looked at in dynasty circles.
- Seahawks safety Earl Thomas continues his All-Pro season with 10 more tackles. For the season, he has 32 tackles, two forced fumbles, two interceptions, and three passes defended. At just 24, and in that defense, Thomas is a guy to get.
- On the other side of the field, Colts linebacker Jerrell Freeman added 13 tackles to bring his total for the season to 43. The tackle machine had 145 last year in his rookie year and should continue that production. However, Freeman started late and is already 27 after spending a few years in the CFL so grab him now if you’re going to get any production from him in dynasty leagues.
Dynasty Recap – Week 4 – Colts destroy Jaguars, 37-3
- BREAKING NEWS – Blaine Gabbert is still not good.
- FOLLOW UP – Trent Richardson may not be either after averaging 3.0 YPC. Maybe Jim Brown was right?
- Luckily, Colts receiver T.Y. Hilton had more targets (9-6) and catches (5-3) than Darrius Heyward-Bey. It appears the Colts finally realized the error of their ways.
- Colts tight end Coby Fleener had five catches for 77 yards and a touchdown. He continues to take full advantage of the injury to Dwayne Allen.
- Colts linebacker Robert Mathis had three more sacks. Depending on your situation, Mathis is a valuable commodity that could either help you to a championship this year or one you could trade for an asset. His 7.5 sacks through four games is impressive in any league.
- One bright spot for Jacksonville continues to be Paul Posluszny. He had nine more tackles and a pass defended. At just 28, Poz is a LB1 in any league and should be for 3-4 more years.
Week 3 Dynasty Recap – Browns down Vikings, 31-7
- While the Cleveland running game appears to be a wreck in the wake of the Trent Richardson trade, the passing game had no problems. Brian Hoyer had 321 yards and three touchdowns (with three interceptions) on the day. Hoyer will be a hot waiver wire pickup. At the moment, I couldn’t imagine the Browns sticking with Hoyer past this year (hello Kelly Holcomb) but stranger things have happened.
- On the receiving end for Cleveland, receiver Josh Gordon led the way with 10 catches for 146 yards with tight end Jordan Cameron hauling in three touchdowns.
- Just avoid the Cleveland running game. Please.
- On the Vikings side, quarterback Christian Ponder had a good day on the ground with two touchdowns and 46 yards. Through the air, he averaged 5.4 YPA, had one interception and was sacked six times. Yikes.
- Vikings rookie receiver Cordarrelle Patterson had his best receiving game so far with 49 yards. He’ll only get better as the season progresses if you can snag him.
Daily Dynasty Update – August 29th
College football kicks off tonight. Start looking at who might be on your dynasty draft board in 2014. In the meantime…
- The Raidas’ will alter their offensive scheme to fit quarterback Terrell Pryor’s skills. Typically, altering your scheme when camp is almost over doesn’t work out well. The Raiders may want to watch that South Carolina game tonight.
- Jets quarterback Geno Smith may get the start in Week 1, dashing any taxi squad chances for dynasty owners. It’s anybody’s guess who this will turn out.
- Browns running back Trent Richardson has another year under his belt with his underrated offensive line. T-Rich is in for a big year and should be a running back stud for years.
Not much news heading into the last week of pre-season. Giddy up.
Daily Dynasty Update – August 4th

- The Giants are expected to split carries between Andre Brown and David Wilson. That #12 ranking for Wilson might be a tad high.
- Norv Turner sees Cleveland running back Trent Richardson with 300 carries and 60 catches. Giddy. Up.
- San Diego looks to use running back Danny Woodhead on passing situations. Ryan Mathews now seems appropriately ranked at #24.
- St. Louis tight end Jared Cook has been connecting with Sam Bradford. Cook may realize his full potential in St. Louis. His #8 ranking could seem low.
- Buffalo receiver Stevie Johnson could miss most of the pre-season with a hammy injury. It’s disappointing as Johnson was running in the slot in the hopes of being the Buffalo Wes Welker.
- Patriots running back Shane Vereen has been lining up all over the place and appears to have gained the trust of Tom Brady. Vereen is currently 32nd in dynasty ranks and makes for a great RB3.
- Arizona running back Rashard Mendenhall is nursing knee tendonitis. With Ryan Williams also hurt, the running back situation in the desert could get real ugly.
- Eric Reid should be the starter at safety for San Francisco heading into the season. Reid is already the 37th ranked DB in dynasty ranks.

Daily Dynasty Football Report – July 24th
What’s happening around the league and how does it affect your dynasty team?
- Santonio Holmes is starting training camp on the PUP list. If he can be medically cleared of his foot injury before training camp is over, he can start the season. If not, he won’t be eligible to play until Week 7. As if there weren’t enough reasons to avoid our 66th ranked receiver, here you go. The whole Jets, with the possible exception of Chris Ivory, is one to avoid in dynasty.
- Ahmad Bradshaw is also starting camp on the PUP list albeit with better prospects than Holmes. Signed as a temporary solution at running back for the high-octane Colts offense, Bradshaw should be ok to start the season. At just 27, it’s possible to get a couple of years out of Bradshaw in dynasty leagues which is why he sits at 36 in our combined ranks. But it is Ahmad Bradshaw we’re talking about, who’s only played all 16 games once in his five-year career so his injuries are worth monitoring.
- Dez Bryant is doing Dez Bryant things at Cowboys camp. With a pass-happy offense, a good quarterback, and no doubt about who the man is, it’s possible Bryant is underrated at #4 in dynasty ranks.
- Mike Williams signed a six-year extension to his rookie contract. While never passing 1,000 yards, Williams does get in the end zone with seasons of 9 and 11 TD’s. He has an excellent supporting cast around him with the only uncertainty being at quarterback. But whether Josh Freeman plays well enough to stick around or the Mike Glennon show begins, Williams should be able to produce. He’s currently at #41 in dynasty ranks.
- Lastly, Trent Richardson dynasty owners should gear up for 300 carries this year. Just 22, Richardson is the youngest running back in the top 10 in our running back ranks which means you could have a dynasty stud for a decade. But conventional wisdom would conclude that many carries at that young an age could be a concern down the road. 13 players have carried it 300 times in their age-21 or 22 season (Edgerrin James did it twice). Of the 13, I count no less than seven backs that are Hall of Fame worth including Marshall Faulk, Jerome Bettis, Walter Payton, Curtis Martin, Edge, and the all-time leading rusher Emmitt Smith. So it can be done.
