With the injury to Kiko Alonso, we have a new entry to the top five. The order now goes Luke Kuechly, Lavonte David, Vontaze Burfict, NaVorro Bowman, and new to the list, Bobby Wagner.
Couple injury drops include Kiko Alonso from 4 to 10 and Sean Weatherspoon from 23 to 37.
Rookie risers include C.J. Mosley from 32 to 22; Christian Kirksey from 44 to 38; and Khalil Mack from off the list to 41.

Daily Dynasty Update – July 21st

Stop us if you’ve heard this one before but Patriots tight end Rob Gronkowski plans to play all season. Some of us at DFFC are pretty conservative and would sell high on Gronk.
Yes, Jaguars running back Toby Gerhart will get all the carries.
Don’t expect the Titans to rely on running back Bishop Sankey for all the work. The team could use a formation such as the Chargers did when new coach Ken Whisenhunt was there. This means a feature back (Sankey), change-of-pace (Greene), and a receiving back (McCluster).
In injury news, don’t expect 49ers linebacker NaVorro Bowman back until after week eight. Bowman suffered a gruesome knee injury in the NFC Championship game but could be a good buy-low candidate for those teams scared off by his recovery.
Vikings quarterback Matt Cassel may be on a longer leash than originally thought over rookie Teddy Bridgewater. Cassel is a more-than-capable bridge (no punt intended) but teams typically don’t trade in to the first round for a guy they don’t want playing.
Expect Browns rookie linebacker Christian Kirksey to win the job and be a three-down back from the start. Kirksey will be playing on a talented roster and should see plenty of opportunities for tackles.

A new top five in dynasty linebacker rankings: Luke Kuechly, Lavonte David, NaVorro Bowman, Kiko Alonso, and Vontaze Burfict.
Rookies entering the rankings include Ryan Shazier at 15; C.J. Mosley at 32; Christian Kirksey at 44; and Tevin Smith at 46.
Some notable movers include Alec Ogletree to 8 from 24; fresh off his suspension, Daryl Washington to 22 from 7; and on the flip side, Kevin Minter to 21 from 44; thanks to his latest injury, Sean Lee drops to 26 from 6.

Daily Dynasty Update – April 30th

Geno Smith is heading in to training camp as the starting quarterback for the Jets. How long that will last remains to be seen with Mike Vick right behind him and Rex Ryan’s job on the line. Neither one are ideal dynasty buys – Smith because of his lack of talent and Vick because of his age.
Eagles linebacker Mychal Kendricks apparently played through a thumb injury last season that required him to be in a cast for a month this off-season. Despite that, he was still a top-20 IDPer and should stay there now that he’s healthy.
Patriots tight end Rob Gronkowski isn’t sure if he’ll be ready for the season after tearing his ACL in December. The news shouldn’t surprise anyone and further enhances my belief that he’d be a decent sell candidate. You just don’t know what you’re getting or when you get it.
The Jaguars are expected to make Toby Gerhart a work horse this season. His role is set up a lot like Michael Turner’s in Atlanta where current Jaguars general manager Dave Caldwell used to be.
49ers linebacker NaVorro Bowman isn’t expected to be ready for Week 1 and should be considered more likely to be back in the middle of the season. Bowman might be a decent buy-low candidate for a team that’s in win-now mode.

Daily Dynasty Update – April 4th

The Titans plan to have a committee and running back which isn’t good news for anyone. We fully expect Tennessee to draft a running back, most likely on Day 3 to compliment incumbent Shonn Greene and newly signed Dexter McCluster.
Giants coach Tom Coughlin is counting on running back David Wilson this year. Dynasty owners should be a little less optimistic. If there’s a taxi squad or injured reserve, Wilson should be placed on that for a while.
Former Texans tight end Owen Daniels has landed in Baltimore. He’ll be a decent backup option especially with Dennis Pitta suffering a major hip injury last season. It also officially opens the door for Ryan Griffin in Houston.
49ers linebacker NaVorro Bowman should be ready by mid-season. It’s a devastating blow for both the 49ers and Bowman dynasty owners. Hopefully, both can survive the first half of 2014 without him.

Daily Dynasty Update – February 21st

Bears linebacker Jon Bostic will play primarily in the middle next year which is just the next step in, hopefully, a productive career.
The Cardinals are expected to use multiple backs even though Andre Ellington is, clearly, the superior talent. Either way, Ellington is a must-own in dynasty leagues whether he’s a starter or compliment.
It’s becoming more obvious that Steelers wide receiver Emmanuel Sanders will not be back in Pittsburgh which is great news for Markus Wheaton dynasty owners. As for Sanders, he’s an average producer.
The Bucs might be drafting a quarterback at #7 in the upcoming draft. Obviously, this drops Mike Glennon’s stock a bit but could be a decent buy-low candidate. It’s hard to determine if a top-tier quarterback will even be available.
49ers linebacker NaVorro Bowman is looking at coming back halfway through next season after recovering from a catastrophic knee injury in the NFC Championship game. Bowman was, arguably, the top linebacker in dynasty before the injury and, hopefully, can rebound.

Updated Dynasty Linebacker Rankings – January 2014

The top of the rankings stay mostly the same with Luke Kuechly, NaVorro Bowman, and Lavonte David making up the top three. Bowman’s status will be closely monitored after destroying his knee in the NFC Championship game.
The big risers this month include the Eagles Mychal Kendricks, Buffalo’s Kiko Alonso and the Bengals Vontaze Burfict. All are coming off strong seasons and will enter 2014 under the age of 24. They will be heading in to the top ten soon.
Drops this month include the 49ers Patrick Willis (age/injury) and the Cowboys Bruce Carter (pass protection) and Tampa’s Mason Foster (new scheme). These are guys you should look at trading to see what you get.

Dynasty Recap – NFC Championship – Seahawks escape 49ers, 23-17

49ers quarterback Colin Kaepernick showed the good, the bad, and the ugly with 153 yards passing, one touchdown, two interceptions, 130 yards rushing and a fumble. Filled the stat sheet quite a bit but left fantasy folks more frustrated than ever before. Right now, it’s hard to give Kaepernick a QB1 grade until he can string good performances together.
Meanwhile, Seahawks quarterback Russell Wilson had another day at the office, going 16 of 25 for 215 yards and a touchdown. If Kaepernick is the hare, Wilson is the tortoise.
Seahawks running back Marshawn Lynch ran wild (again) with 109 yards on 22 carries. Lynch will be in his age-28 season next year when, typically, running backs start breaking down. It wouldn’t be a bad idea to start fielding offers for Lynch in your dynasty leagues and sell high.
49ers linebacker NaVorro Bowman was on his way to a spectacular game, finishing with 14 tackles and a sack before destroying his knee. The injury looked gruesome and is sure to effect his status heading in to next season. Here’s hoping the recovery goes well.
Seahawks safety Kam Chancellor had a great game with 11 tackles and two passes defended. He’ll be a solid DB1 heading in to next dynasty season and could make a claim for top DB overall.

Dynasty Recap – Divisional Playoff – 49ers take care of Panthers, 23-10

49ers quarterback Colin Kaepernick had an efficient day, going 15 of 28 for 196 yards and a touchdown. Kaepernick might not light the fantasy world on fire but he’ll play well enough to be a low-end QB1 in dynasty leagues.
49ers receiver Anquan Boldin had a team-high eight catches for 136 yards. Boldin will be a free agent this year and already 33 so he might not be as effective next year.
Panthers linebacker Luke Kuechly filled the stat sheet with 10 tackles, a sack, and a pass defended. A disappointing end to the season but he’ll continue to be a LB1 for many years to come in dynasty leagues.
49ers linebacker NaVorro Bowman has officially passed Patrick Willis as the best linebacker in San Francisco and possibly football. He had 11 tackles and a sack and will be a high-end LB1 as well next year in dynasty circles.

Dynasty Recap – Week 17 – 49ers edge Cardinals, 23-20

49ers quarterback Colin Kaepernick had his second 300-yard game of the season, going 21 of 34 for 310 yards and two touchdowns to go along with 24 yards rushing. Hopefully it’s just the momentum he needs heading in to 2014.
Meanwhile, Cardinals quarterback Carson Palmer went 28 of 49 for 407 yards, two touchdowns, and an interception. Palmer will be a low-end QB2 for the next year or two before hanging it up.
Cardinals receiver Larry Fitzgerald had six catches for 113 yards to end another disappointing season. Michael Floyd’s emergence contributed but you have to wonder if Fitz’s days of being a WR1 are over. It might be time to consider a trade package for Fitz.
49ers linebacker NaVorro Bowman capped his incredible season with 10 tackles, a sack, and an interception. Bowman filled the stat sheet all year and should be your top-rated linebacker heading in to 2014 dynasty leagues.
