  • NFL: Cleveland Browns at Minnesota VikingsWith Josh Gordon dropping out of the top five, it makes room for Demaryius Thomas. The others include Calvin, A.J., Dez, and Julio.
  • Top rookies include Sammy Watkins at 12; Mike Evans at 16; Brandin Cooks at 27; Jordan Matthews at 32; Odell Beckham at 34.
  • Justin Blackmon drops from 22 to 31 (and probably further thanks to recent activity); Rueben Randle from 29 to 37 thanks to the drafting of ODB; Markus Wheaton from 40 to 51 thanks to the drafting of rookie Martavius Bryant; Dwayne Bowe  from 39 to 53.

Daily Dynasty Update – February 20th

  • Seahawks running back Christine Michael is expected to have a bigger role in 2014. Michael was a popular choice in rookie dynasty drafts last year but totaled only 18 carries his rookie year. That should change which will only enhance Michael’s value.
  • Free agent receiver Danario Alexander is dealing with major complications from knee surgery. It’s a shame for the 25-year old as he was high on a lot of dynasty lists even heading in to last year. It’s safe to drop Alexander for the time being.
  • The NFL suspended free agent tight end Fred Davis indefinitely for violating the league’s substance abuse policy. It’s very possible Davis has reached the end of the line which means it’s safe to drop him from your dynasty rankings.
  • Look for the Jets to draft a receiver thanks to their belief that physical freak Stephen Hill can’t contribute in the NFL. Hill’s upside has always vastly outweighed his production.
  • 49ers receiver Quinton Patton is expected to be a starter with the team by the time his rookie contract runs out in 2016. With several mock drafts pegging the 49ers to take a receiver, it’s hard to see where Patton would fit in but if you have a taxi squad, Patton is ideal.
  • The Steelers are expected to re-sign Jerricho Cotchery but not Emmanuel Sanders, meaning 2013 draft pick Markus Wheaton should step in to a starting role. Wheaton’s rookie season didn’t start off well after suffering an injury but with Sanders likely moving on, 2014 could be a break out year.

Daily Dynasty Update – January 14th

  • Steelers receiver Markus Wheaton could triple his snaps if free agent Emmanuel Sanders doesn’t return. Wheaton was a decent rookie dynasty prospect heading in to 2013 but injuries and the Steelers conservative offense didn’t help. He’ll be one to monitor heading in to 2014.
  • Bills running back Fred Jackson thinks he has 3-4 more good years in him. Jackson surprisingly had more yards from scrimmage than C.J. Spiller this season and didn’t look like a 32-year old running back. Three years may be asking much but a year or two isn’t. If you’re needing to make a run with your dynasty team in 2014, Jackson could be a buy-low candidate.
  • While new Titans coach Ken Whisenhunt isn’t quite the quarterback whisperer that Bears coach Marc Trestman is, he’s still expected to improve Jake Locker’s game. I’m skeptical of a quarterback that’s had a few years to prove his worth and hasn’t. Locker has decent talent at receiver so he could be a decent QB2.
