- Peyton Manning did Peyton Manning things, throwing for 374 yards and three touchdowns all while going 32/37 on pass attempts. He’s one of those where age doesn’t matter in fantasy, he may win you a championship by himself.
- The three-headed monster also known as Denver’s running game had carries of 12 (Knowshon Moreno), 11 (Montee Ball), and 9 (Ronnie Hillman). Hillman won this round with 66 yards. Ball wasn’t far behind at 61 but did have a late fumble. Ball is still the better dynasty prospect as they used the higher draft pick but nothing is certain there.
- Oakland defensive end Lamarr Houston continues to be a bright spot with a sack and forced fumble. Houston is an underrated end that has some big play potential as one of the only talents on the Oakland defense and would make a fine DL2 on your dynasty fantasy team.
- On the other hand, Oakland running back Darren McFadden had nine yards on 12 carries. He’s off the dynasty map until further notice.

Dynasty Recap – Week 3 – Bears dominate Steelers, 40-23
- Statistically, the Steelers had a big night led by Antonio Brown’s 196 yards on nine receptions. Brown is, and will be, the best option Pittsburgh has in the passing game so he’ll continue to see looks. Ideally, another receiver could take the pressure off.
- On the Bears side, receiver Alshon Jeffery got just as many looks as Brandon Marshall, further proof that Jay Cutler is trying to spread the wealth. Chicago ran a balanced attack so every look Jeffery can get as the second receiver the better. He’s young and in a good offense but is blocked behind Brandon Marshall for attention. Don’t expect that to change much.
- Bears running back Matt Forte continues to be one of the most reliable backs around. Rushing for 87 yards on only 16 carries and catching four more balls, there’s not many other running backs who is as productive, even with Michael Bush taking goal-line touches away. Forte should be a low-end RB1 for 2-4 more years in dynasty leagues.
- Late breaking news says Le’Veon Bell should make his debut in week four. I’m sure the Steelers would love to hit the reset button about now. He’ll be better than anything else they’ve tried even if he’s at below 100%
Dynasty Recap – Week 3 – Seahawks destroy Jaguars 45-17
- This game got out of hand early which meant Marshawn Lynch was pulled. After that, rookie Christine Michael was the lead back and had nine carries compared to three for Robert Turbin. Michael will be very good and even better because of the system he’s in.
- Jaguars receiver Cecil Shorts had 15 targets to go with his eight catches and 143 yards. It’s good to see Shorts won’t be held back because of poor quarterback play. It does remain to be seen how his targets are affected when Justin Blackmon returns. Either way, an improved quarterback next year should help Shorts’ cause. He’s a long-term hold.
- Seattle rookie tight end Luke Willson had a nice day in clean-up duty with five catches and 76 yards. Incumbent Zach Miller has an almost $5M cap hit next year so don’t be surprised if he gets cut and Willson steps in. He’s a long-term hold.
- Jaguars rookie safety John Cyprien had a nice day with seven tackles, one sack, and a forced fumble. He’s getting his chance and should be a DB1 for many years to come.
Dynast Recap – Week 3 – Jets outlast Bills, 27-20
- In a battle of rookie quarterbacks, the Jets Geno Smith prevailed and looked quite impressive against a weak Buffalo defense. He had 331 yards with two touchdowns and two interceptions. With no pressure, Smith could have a productive season. Keep an eye out.
- Meanwhile, the man picked ahead of Geno, Bills quarterback E.J. Manual had a quiet day with 243 yards and one touchdown. He did only compete 19 passes on 42 attempts. The Jets defense has been impressive so far so Manual should be fine. I would put him and Geno neck and neck for dynasty purposes.
- Jets running back Bilal Powell had 149 yards after Chris Ivory got hurt. Ivory will be out for some time so Powell does have some value. Trade him now if you can as the Jets will look for a more long-term solution in the off-season.
- For Buffalo rookie receiver Robert Woods, the 10 targets were a plus. The two receptions were not. Woods will be fine though and a low buy trade is advisable.
- Jets defensive lineman Muhammed Wilkerson had two of the Jets eight sacks on Sunday. Wilkerson is only 23 and on a very good defense. He could be a DL1 by year’s end.
Dynasty Recap – Week 3 – Dolphins slip by Falcons, 27-23
- The Dolphins had a fairly efficient night scoring 27 points on 55 plays. Quarterback Ryan Tannehill had 236 yards with two touchdowns and one interception. He’ll never be a long-term solution in dynasty leagues but he might not be a bad QB2.
- Falcons running back Jacquizz Rodgers had himself a nice day with 86 yards rushing and two catches for seven yards in place of Steven Jackson. Now would be a good time to sell high as Jackson might not be back until week 7 and Rogers is, by no means, the long-term solution. He has yet to crack the 4.0 YPC mark and won’t anytime soon.
- Dolphins rookie defensive end Dion Jordan had his second straight quiet game after racking up a sack in his pro debut. Now might be the time to pluck him off an unsuspecting victim and stash him away for taxi squad purposes.
- Meanwhile, Dolphins linebacker Dannell Ellerbe racked up 10 more tackles to go along with his 20 for the season. Ellerbe is a solid contributor in standard scoring IDP dynasty leagues.
Dynasty Recap – Week 3 – Colts dominate 49ers, 27-7
- It wasn’t pretty for 49ers quarterback Colin Kaepernick. He finished with 150 yards and one interception. If there were ever a time to buy low, it’d be now.
- Colts receiver T.Y. Hilton saw as many targets as Darrius Heyward-Bey (4-5). He still hasn’t been consistent but is the clear long-term answer for Indianapolis. See what’s out there to potentially buy low.
- Colts linebacker Jerrell Freeman filled up the stat sheet with eight tackles, a sack, a tackle for a loss and a forced fumble. Freeman is quietly one of the more underrated big play linebackers in dynasty circles.
Dynasty Recap – Week 3 – Bengals scrape by Packers, 34-30
- Cincinnati rookie running back Giovani Bernard continues to get more playing time. He had 10 carries (same as BenJarvis Green-Ellis) and 5.0 YPC with four receptions for 49 yards. He’s the real deal.
- On the other side of the ball, Green Bay running back Johnathan Franklin had 103 yards rushing after taking over for James Starks. This after showing nothing in training camp and the season so far. Maybe this is a sign of things to come and Franklin can finally be the compliment to Eddie Lacy. He’s also in line for major time in years to come should Lacy get banged up.
- The Green Bay passing game continues to be an equal opportunity employer with targets all around to Jordy Nelson (9), Randall Cobb (11), and James Jones (8). James Jones is the only one not signed through next year and would be severely affected if he’s not in the Green Bay lineup.
- Bengals linebacker Vontaze Burfict racked up 11 more tackles. The 22-year old already has 28 tackles on the year, making him a tackle machine in dynasty leagues. He’s less big play but more solid contributor.
- The young bookends of the defensive line for Cincinnati each racked up a sack. Michael Johnson (1.5) and Carlos Dunlap (1.0) both still under 27 years of age, are solid defensive lineman in dynasty fantasy football. Either one would be a contributor.
Week 3 Dynasty Recap – Cowboys dominate Rams, 31-7
- I think the Sam Bradford train is starting to lose some steam. He had a 5.0 YPC after 48 pass attempts. The lack of a running game doesn’t help.
- Isaiah Pead took over running back duties for an injured Daryl Richardson but didn’t exactly impress. He had a 3.3 YPC after St. Louis went down early but was a bright spot with seven catches. That may be his niche in that offense which isn’t a bad thing. He’s just not a workhorse.
- Cowboys running back DeMarco Murray had a huge day with 175 yards. Murray has a ton of talent and is young with the starting job locked up. The issue continues to be just how many rushes he gets. He could get 26 as he did this week or 12 like last week. Still a lot of upside however.
- Cowboys end DeMarcus Ware had two more sacks bringing his total to four this season. The switch to end has been very good for Ware and wouldn’t be a bad pickup for your DL2 in dynasty leagues. There’s not many players that are more reliable.
Week 3 Dynasty Recap – Titans escape Chargers, 20-17
- Titans quarterback Jake Locker turned in a sneaky good performance with almost 300 yards and a touchdown. He completed over 60% of his passes and had 8.0+ YPA. Just 25, Locker may make a suitable QB2 for dynasty league owners or a trade chip with stock that will never be higher.
- The Titans receivers took advantage of Locker’s big day with Kendall Wright hauling in 6/71 and Nate Washington grabbing 8/131. These two are also sell-high candidates.
- Kenny Britt, meanwhile, was nowhere to be heard from. He caught zero passes on five targets.
- On the Chargers side, Danny Woodhead is filling his role of a poor man’s Darren Sproles nicely with 31 yards rushing on top of seven catches for 55 yards. If you’re in a PPR dynasty league, Woodhead is a fine RB3. His name isn’t sexy so you may be able to get him on the cheap.
- Unfortunately, it looks like the Philip Rivers show had to end sometime. Rivers was efficient, going 20 of 24 for 184 yards. However, the Chargers offense only ran 53 plays with San Diego splitting it down the middle between the pass and run. Rivers just isn’t a long-term option in dynasty fantasy circles.
Week 3 Dynasty Recap – Browns down Vikings, 31-7
- While the Cleveland running game appears to be a wreck in the wake of the Trent Richardson trade, the passing game had no problems. Brian Hoyer had 321 yards and three touchdowns (with three interceptions) on the day. Hoyer will be a hot waiver wire pickup. At the moment, I couldn’t imagine the Browns sticking with Hoyer past this year (hello Kelly Holcomb) but stranger things have happened.
- On the receiving end for Cleveland, receiver Josh Gordon led the way with 10 catches for 146 yards with tight end Jordan Cameron hauling in three touchdowns.
- Just avoid the Cleveland running game. Please.
- On the Vikings side, quarterback Christian Ponder had a good day on the ground with two touchdowns and 46 yards. Through the air, he averaged 5.4 YPA, had one interception and was sacked six times. Yikes.
- Vikings rookie receiver Cordarrelle Patterson had his best receiving game so far with 49 yards. He’ll only get better as the season progresses if you can snag him.
