- Pittsburgh running back Le’Veon Bell made his debut and looked good. He only averaged 3.7 YPC on 16 carries but had four catches for 27 yards. His role should only increase throughout the year.
- Minnesota quarterback Matt Cassel had a stellar day with a 64% completion percentage, 10 YPA, two touchdowns and no interceptions. Minnesota will still search for a quarterback to groom but Cassel could have value this year in an effort to audition for a job next year. Just don’t be in a hurry to ride him to a championship.
- Pittsburgh wide receiver Antonio Brown continues to snag the most targets for Pittsburgh. With 13 more to go with 12 catches, there is no doubt Brown is bottom-tier WR1 for dynasty purposes and more ideally a WR2.
- Pittsburgh rookie receiver Markus Wheaton saw five targets today, a season-high. As Wheaton develops, he’ll get more looks. He’s a good buy-low candidate.
- Minnesota linebacker Chad Greenway had his best game of the year with 10 tackles, a sack, an interception and a pass defended. At 30, Greenway is most likely on the downside of his career and could make great trade bait for a contending dynasty team.

Dynasty Recap – Week 4 – Cardinals stun Bucs, 13-10
- The debut of rookie quarterback Mike Glennon was uneventful for Tampa Bay. He went 24/43 for 193 yards with one touchdown and two interceptions. He should get better as the season progresses.
- Bucs running back Doug Martin had a pedestrian day with 27 carries for only 45 yards. Martin’s had a very up and down year but should continue to be relied on with a rookie quarterback.
- For Arizona, rookie running back Andre Ellington continues to provide a spark with a 7.3 YPC on the few carries he had. The better news is he was targeted six times and caught three of those. Ellington appears to be the running back in Arizona to hold in dynasty.
- Arizona wide receiver Michael Floyd made some news with 10 targets and five catches for 87 yards. Those numbers should continue to improve throughout the season. Now, if Arizona could just get an offensive line…
Dynasty Recap – Week 4 – Colts destroy Jaguars, 37-3
- BREAKING NEWS – Blaine Gabbert is still not good.
- FOLLOW UP – Trent Richardson may not be either after averaging 3.0 YPC. Maybe Jim Brown was right?
- Luckily, Colts receiver T.Y. Hilton had more targets (9-6) and catches (5-3) than Darrius Heyward-Bey. It appears the Colts finally realized the error of their ways.
- Colts tight end Coby Fleener had five catches for 77 yards and a touchdown. He continues to take full advantage of the injury to Dwayne Allen.
- Colts linebacker Robert Mathis had three more sacks. Depending on your situation, Mathis is a valuable commodity that could either help you to a championship this year or one you could trade for an asset. His 7.5 sacks through four games is impressive in any league.
- One bright spot for Jacksonville continues to be Paul Posluszny. He had nine more tackles and a pass defended. At just 28, Poz is a LB1 in any league and should be for 3-4 more years.
Dynasty Recap – Week 4 – Seattle escapes Houston, 23-20 (OT)
- The Texans made a point to give it to Arian Foster who had 27 carries and six receptions. Backup running back Ben Tate had only seven carries and one catch. Don’t be deterred – Tate will still get his. Now would be a perfect opportunity to pick him off for your dynasty team next year.
- On the other side of the field, neither of Seattle’s young running backs saw the field a lot either. Robert Turbin had just three carries while Christine Michael had nothing. There doesn’t seem to be a consensus in Seattle as to who is the heir apparent to Marshawn Lynch. Be cautious with both.
- No Seattle receiver has separated themselves as far as targets. Golden Tate and Sidney Rice each had five, while Doug Baldwin had four. That is a situation to avoid for now and later.
- Houston Tight End Garrett Graham had five catches on six targets. While three years younger (27) than incumbent Owen Daniels (30), Graham won’t get nearly as many looks unless Matt Schaub attempts 49 passes every game.
- Houston linebacker Whitney Mercilus busted out with 2.5 sacks. The 2012 first rounder started the season as the starter and should be looked at on the waiver wire if you’re low on sacks.
Dynasty Recap – Week 4 – 49ers bounce back against Rams, 35-11
- San Francisco finally went back to Frank Gore and, lo and behold, it worked! He went off for 153 yards. It’s hard to see Gore not being around to see his contract through 2014. Marcus Lattimore dynasty owners might have to wait.
- Vernon Davis didn’t have a spectacular night but still caught a touchdown. It continues to boggle the mind that the 49ers don’t utilize him more in the passing game. It also doesn’t bode well for the chances of young tight ends Vance McDonald and Chris Harper to be productive under the current regime.
- Rams quarterback Sam Bradford is going to pass the ball. A lot. He had 41 attempts last night with four receivers getting eight targets or more. Now, if they could just catch them…
- On the flip side, the Rams will NOT be running the ball this year. See our report in the daily dynasty update.
- 49ers linebacker Michael Wilhoite stepped in for Patrick Willis last night and had seven tackles. With the 49ers ability to pick up linebackers and develop them into IDP studs, keep an eye on Wilhoite.
Daily Dynasty Update – September 27th
Happy hour is only a few hours away. Oh, and the 49ers look normal again. Who knew running the ball was a recipe for success?
- Rams running back Isaiah Pead was a healthy scratch last night yet Zac Stacy didn’t have a single carry. Benny Cunningham ended up spelling Daryl Richardson. Apparently just because the Rams had three running backs in the beginning of the season doesn’t mean they had three worth taking in dynasty fantasy. Look for Cunningham on deeper waiver wires.
- Bucs (now) backup quarterback Josh Freeman would like a trade. I’d also like a million dollars but it won’t happen. Freeman’s cap number is way too big for a backup/middling starter. He’ll be in Tampa until the end of the season and will begin the path of a journeyman quarterback.
- The Jaguars have officially designated Denard Robinson as a wide receiver. Still won’t matter as Robinson has yet to break out and is on a bad team.
- Dallas rookie receiver Terrance Williams will get the start Sunday if Miles Austin can’t go. In that offense, the 2nd receiver will get more opportunities than most. Williams is also young and cheap which means he could be in Dallas for a while. He’d be worth a stash in deep dynasty leagues.
Daily Dynasty Update – September 26th
Everybody’s working for the weekend…
- Despite splitting carries and despite the recent fumble issues, the Broncos are preparing for Montee Ball to be a top-tier running back. Now might be a good time to pick him off someone’s roster if you’re playing for next year. Ball is holding steady at 26th in our dynasty running back rankings.
- Seattle receiver Percy Harvin’s rehab is coming along on schedule. Of course, hip injuries are not an easy fix but there may not be a better flyer right now. Tentatively, Harvin’s scheduled to be back around Week 10 or 11. Harvin is still a top-10 option in dynasty ranks.
- Cincinnati running back BenJarvus Green-Ellis was limited in practice. It’s almost as if the fantasy football gods planned it this way. Gio Bernard will most likely get a majority of snaps this week. Bernard is a top-15 running back option in dynasty ranks.
- Despite Detroit running back Reggie Bush being inactive last week, Mikel Leshoure saw no action. However, the Lions also turned down trade offers just last week for Leshoure so they may have a master plan. He’s a good taxi squad candidate at this point.
- Washington receiver Leonard Hankerson has started the last two weeks opposite Pierre Garcon and has established himself over Josh Morgan. Hankerson is four years younger than Morgan and is under contract until through next year while Morgan is a free agent after 2013. Hankerson gets the nod.

Daily Dynasty Update – September 25th
- Tampa Bay has named Mike Glennon quarterback going forward. Josh Freeman is officially done. If you’re quarterback starved, here’s an in-season option.
- 49ers linebacker Aldon Smith is headed to rehab and will be out for the foreseeable future. Hopefully, Smith can rebound and return to football very soon.
- Lions receiver Ryan Broyles will be getting more attention in the wake of Nate Burleson’s injury. He’ll still man the slot in the pass-happy Lions offense and still quite young. He’s on the dynasty radar.
- Speaking of Detroit, they’ve asked about Cleveland receiver Josh Gordon in a trade. Gordon in the Lions offense would be dynamite. His stock skyrocketed thanks to his big day Sunday but keep an eye on him if the price drops.
- Patriots receiver Danny Amendola is progressing well. Now would be the time to buy-low from someone tired of Amendola’s injury shenanigans. He is a dynamic player when healthy but that seems to be a 50/50 proposition.
Dynasty Recap – Week 3 – Denver beats Oakland, 37-21
- Peyton Manning did Peyton Manning things, throwing for 374 yards and three touchdowns all while going 32/37 on pass attempts. He’s one of those where age doesn’t matter in fantasy, he may win you a championship by himself.
- The three-headed monster also known as Denver’s running game had carries of 12 (Knowshon Moreno), 11 (Montee Ball), and 9 (Ronnie Hillman). Hillman won this round with 66 yards. Ball wasn’t far behind at 61 but did have a late fumble. Ball is still the better dynasty prospect as they used the higher draft pick but nothing is certain there.
- Oakland defensive end Lamarr Houston continues to be a bright spot with a sack and forced fumble. Houston is an underrated end that has some big play potential as one of the only talents on the Oakland defense and would make a fine DL2 on your dynasty fantasy team.
- On the other hand, Oakland running back Darren McFadden had nine yards on 12 carries. He’s off the dynasty map until further notice.
Dynasty Recap – Week 3 – Bears dominate Steelers, 40-23
- Statistically, the Steelers had a big night led by Antonio Brown’s 196 yards on nine receptions. Brown is, and will be, the best option Pittsburgh has in the passing game so he’ll continue to see looks. Ideally, another receiver could take the pressure off.
- On the Bears side, receiver Alshon Jeffery got just as many looks as Brandon Marshall, further proof that Jay Cutler is trying to spread the wealth. Chicago ran a balanced attack so every look Jeffery can get as the second receiver the better. He’s young and in a good offense but is blocked behind Brandon Marshall for attention. Don’t expect that to change much.
- Bears running back Matt Forte continues to be one of the most reliable backs around. Rushing for 87 yards on only 16 carries and catching four more balls, there’s not many other running backs who is as productive, even with Michael Bush taking goal-line touches away. Forte should be a low-end RB1 for 2-4 more years in dynasty leagues.
- Late breaking news says Le’Veon Bell should make his debut in week four. I’m sure the Steelers would love to hit the reset button about now. He’ll be better than anything else they’ve tried even if he’s at below 100%
