Dynasty Recap – Week 6 – Eagles down Bucs, 31-20

  • Eagles quarterback Nick Foles had a great game, going for 296 yards and three touchdowns on 22 of 31 passing. With more games like this, the Eagles may hand the keys over to Foles instead of Vick long-term.
  • Bucs rookie quarterback Mike  Glennon had a decent game against a bad defense, going 26 of 43 for 273 yards with two touchdowns and one interception. Currently, Glennon is the starter but that could change for Tampa after next year’s draft and a probable top five pick. Glennon’s future is extremely cloudy.
  • Bucs second-year linebacker Lavonte David continues having a good season with nine more tackles, a sack and a tackle for a loss. He now has 29 tackles, four passes defended and three tackles for a loss on the season. David is ideal in big play IDP leagues and should continue to fill the stat sheet for many years.

Dynasty Recap – Week 6 – Packers escape Ravens, 19-17

  • Packers rookie running back Eddie Lacy racked up 120 yards on 23 carries for a 5.2 YPC. Lacy continues to show he’s the real deal and a great compliment to the Packers passing game.
  • The Ravens have gone back to not getting Ray Rice the ball as he only had 14 carries to go along with three catches. As long as Jim Caldwell is the offensive coordinator in Baltimore, expect Ray Rice’s usage to fluctuate.
  • Meanwhile, Ravens quarterback Joe Flacco had an unusually efficient day with 342 yards and two touchdowns on 20/34 passing. Don’t expect that kind of play consistently as the Packers, on average, give up 288 yards passing a game. Flacco is still a fantasy dynasty backup at best.
  • With Packers receivers Randall Cobb and James Jones going out early due to injury, Jordy Nelson ended up with the most targets at 10. Expect that to continue if either Jones and/or Cobb miss any amount of time.

Dynasty Recap – Week 6 – Rams destroy Texans, 38-13

  • Texans running back Arian Foster is, apparently, back. He totaled 198 yards on the day. Meanwhile, Ben Tate 10 carries compared to 20 for Foster. He also only averaged 1.2 yards YPC. Now is the ideal buy-low time on Tate since he’ll be moving on to greener pastures next year.
  • Rams quarterback Sam Bradford had a very efficient day with 75% of his passes completed for only 117 yards but with three touchdowns. I still don’t see Bradford being a long-term fantasy starter but he could be a very good QB2.
  • Rams rookie running back Zac Stacy had a productive day with 79 yards on 18 carries. He added two catches for 11 yards. So far, he’s been the Rams most productive running back and should keep the starting job for a while.
  • Rams rookie linebacker Alec Ogletree had a breakout game with 10 tackles, a pass defended and an interception returned 98 yards for a touchdown.  Paired with Robert Quinn and Chris Long, he should be a solid contributor for a good Rams defense for years to come.

Dynasty Recap – Week 6 – Bears escape Giants, 27-21

  • Bears receiver Alshon Jeffery had one catch for 27 yards along with a 15 yard rush. Jeffery will be a boom-or-bust fantasy player with Brandon Marshall and Matt Forte on the team as there’s only one ball to go around. But he’s still a great dynasty stash as the 29-year old Marshall will have to move on at some point.
  • Bears running back Matt Forte had over 100 total yards to go along with six catches. He would have had more yards but the Bears insist on keeping MIchael Bush, and his 1.8 YPC, involved. So frustrating.
  • Meanwhile, the entire Giants offense continues to flounder. The exception was Brandon Jacobs and his 106 yards and touchdown. It won’t last folks. Trade him now if you can.
  • One bright spot is Hakeem Nicks lead the team in targets with eight and it wasn’t even close. Maybe since their season is over they’re allowing Nicks to audition for his free agency. He’s a good buy-low candidate as he’s slated to land somewhere else, presumably with less competition, next year.
  • Bears safety Major Wright had 11 more tackles to bring his season total to 45. He’s on pace for over 100 and is playing well just in time for his free agent year.

Dynasty Recap – Week 5 – Jets clip Falcons, 30-28

  • Jets quarterback Geno Smith did it again – he threw three touchdown passes (on only 20 pass attempts) and no interceptions. He also rushed for 21 yards. It might be time to start Geno, at least in two quarterback leagues.
  • With news about Julio Jones and Roddy White, Falcons tight end Tony Gonzalez expects to get even more targets. Let him play a few games and see if you can sell high to a contender.
  • Jets defensive lineman Muhammed Wilkerson had another sack to bring his season total to five. He also had two tackles for a loss and a forced fumble. Wilkerson is quickly becoming DL1 potential and, at just 23, should be targeted in your league.
  • Jets linebacker David Harris had 14 tackles to bring his season total to 42. He has a shot to match his career high of 127. At 29, Harris best days are probably behind him but he can still produce.

Dynasty Recap – Week 5 – Raiders down Chargers, 27-17

  • Chargers quarterback Philip Rivers continued his fantasy renaissance with 411 yards with two touchdowns and three interceptions. By no means is Rivers a viable option long-term but he could be traded away for assets.
  • With Rivers’ resurgence, Charger receivers Keenan Allen and Vincent Brown are suddenly viable options. Both are young and talented and, as long as the opportunities are there, should continue to produce.
  • On the Raiders side, quarterback Terrelle Pryor had another solid outing. He completed 78% of his passes and threw for 221 yards. He’s completed 63% of his passes in each game this season and has rushed for 229 yards. He has five turnovers, which has hindered his fantasy and real-life value, but if he can control those, he should be a viable QB2 for many years to come.
  • Raiders defensive end Lamarr Houston had a sack to go along with seven tackles. Houston quietly has three sacks on the year and should easily set a career-high this season. At just 26, Houston could be a DL2/3 for many years to come in dynasty IDP leagues.

Dynasty Recap – Week 5 – Broncos escape Cowboys, 51-48

  • You really can’t go wrong with either Peyton Manning or Tony Romo as your dynasty quarterback. That is all.
  • Denver running back Knowshon Moreno continued as the starter with 19 carries for 93 yards to go along with five catches. With Denver’s success, you have to wonder if they won’t want to keep Moreno beyond this year and inhibit Ronnie Hillman‘s and Montee Ball’s production
  • Denver tight end Julius Thomas was Manning’s favorite target with 12. As long as Peyton’s there, Thomas is a TE1 in dynasty leagues.
  • Cowboys rookie receiver Terrance Williams had a career best day with four catches for 151 yards. With more days like that, Dallas might be inclined to let Miles Austin go at some point.
  • Dallas safety Barry Church had 11 more tackles and is on pace for over 100 for year. At just 25, Church could be locked in to the free safety role for a while.

Dynasty Recap – Week 5 – Cardinals beat Panthers, 22-6

  • Panthers quarterback Cam Newton passed for 300 yards and three interceptions. He continues to play with a sub-par supporting cast and sub-par coaching, both of which should improve after this year. I suspect it will making Newton a buy-low candidate. It’ll still cost you but Newton is too good to not get a look for your dynasty team.
  • Cardinals running back Andre Ellington may be pulling away with the starting job in Arizona. He had 52 yards on just seven carries along with four catches for 31 yards. Now would be the time to make a play for Ellington before it’s too late.
  • The Arizona defense had a field day against Carolina, most notably linebacker Daryl Washington who came back from suspension. The 27-year old had nine tackles, two sacks, three tackles for a loss, and a pass defended. He’s an IDP dynasty stud and should be held on to for many years to come.

Dynasty Recap – Week 5 – 49ers demolish Texans, 34-3

  • Houston running back Arian Foster is looking more like his old self again. I still wouldn’t trust it for dynasty purposes beyond this year and would try to get value for him now.
  • Meanwhile, fellow running back Ben Tate had 4.0 YPC and continues to show he can produce as well. He’s a guy to target and she’s sure to get a starting job somewhere next year.
  • Unfortunately, the DeAndre Hopkins train has been slowing down as he only had four receptions for 23 yards for a second straight disappointing week. Hopkins will still be fine and now might actually be a good time to try to pick him off.
  • For San Francisco, running the ball worked again (shock) as Frank Gore had 81 yards on 17 carries. Gore still has another year on his contract and I just can’t see anyone taking his place before then. Sorry all you Marcus Lattimore/Kenall Hunter lovers.
  • The receivers in San Francisco are just…bad. And until Michael Crabtree comes back and they improve the position as a whole, Colin Kaepernick will suffer as well. I trust the brain trust to upgrade the receivers in the off-season and Kap will be fine.
  • 49ers linebacker NaVorro Bowman continues to do this thing with 13 more tackles. He might be the best linebacker in dynasty IDP leagues.
  • 49ers rookie safety Eric Reid continued his good play with eight tackles and a pass defended. He should be a good one for a while.

Dynasty Recap – Week 5 – Rams down Jaguars 34-20

  • Jaguars receiver Justin Blackmon came back in a big way after serving a four game suspension with five catches and 136 yards. He’ll be safe to use going forward while, hopefully, the Jags can upgrade at the quarterback position so he can be even better.
  • Rams rookie running back Zac Stacy ran for 78 yards on 14 carries before leaving the game early. His 5.6 YPC was in-line with other running backs against the Jags this season so there’s hope that Stacy can produce at league minimum. The Rams next game against Houston will determine that.
  • On the other side of the field, Jaguars running back Maurice Jones-Drew had 70 yards on 17 carries to go with three targets. Should he be traded this year, his value would improve but for 2013 only. Beyond this year is a question mark so be cautious.
  • The Rams passing game is still sorting itself out with the most targets going to Chris Givens with seven while no receiver had more than four catches. Until somebody steps up, it’s a passing game to avoid, including Tavon Austin.
  • On the defensive side of the ball, both Rams defensive ends had productive days. Chris Long had a sack and two tackles for a loss while Robert Quinn had a tackle for a loss to go along with two quarterback hits. Either one is a fine option as a dynasty defensive lineman.
  • Across the field, Jaguars safety John Cyprien had 13 tackles and is now on pace for over 100 tackles for the year. The rookie could be good for a long time.
