Updated Dynasty Running Back Rankings – October 2014

New top five member this month with DeMarco Murray sneaking in at five. The top four remain the same with LeSean McCoy, Jamaal Charles, Eddie Lacy, and Gio Bernard. Doug Martin drops from four to eight.
Big risers this month include Mark Ingram to 33rd from 40th; Knile Davis to 44th from 52nd; and Ahmad Bradshaw sneaking up to 52nd.
Big drops include Adrian Peterson to 16th from 6th; Toby Gerhart from 30th to 37th; Maurice Jones-Drew to 50th from 42nd; Danny Woodhead to 53rd from 47th; Jonathan Stewart to 54th from 48th; Pierre Thomas to 55th from 49th; and Marcus Lattimore to 57th from 43rd.
Rookie movers include Carlos Hyde up to 18th from 23rd; Jeremy Hill to 29th from 35th; Isaiah Crowell to 40th from 57th; Jerick McKinnon to 41st from 54th; and Andre Williams to 42nd from 51st.

Daily Dynasty Update – September 3rd

As if dynasty folks didn’t need more of a reason to stash Cody Latimer, Wes Welker gets popped for four games.
The Jaguars will roll with Denard Robinson as the primary backup to Toby Gerhart over Jordan Todman. The news is significant as Jacksonville is expected to go run-heavy and Robinson could see value if Gerhart is injured.
In Philadelphia, expect Chris Polk to be the primary backup to running back LeSean McCoy. Darren Sproles will strictly be used as a passing back.

Daily Dynasty Update – August 6th

No need to be alarmed (yet) but Jaguars running back Toby Gerhart will miss the first pre-season game. All indications are Gerhart will be a workhorse this year so he needs to avoid any injury.
Panthers running back Jonathan Stewart is expected to play at some point in the off-season. Hoooooooo-kay.
Eagles tight end Zach Ertz is expected to be a top red zone target this year. Dynasty owners should be salivating.

Daily Dynasty Update – July 21st

Stop us if you’ve heard this one before but Patriots tight end Rob Gronkowski plans to play all season. Some of us at DFFC are pretty conservative and would sell high on Gronk.
Yes, Jaguars running back Toby Gerhart will get all the carries.
Don’t expect the Titans to rely on running back Bishop Sankey for all the work. The team could use a formation such as the Chargers did when new coach Ken Whisenhunt was there. This means a feature back (Sankey), change-of-pace (Greene), and a receiving back (McCluster).
In injury news, don’t expect 49ers linebacker NaVorro Bowman back until after week eight. Bowman suffered a gruesome knee injury in the NFC Championship game but could be a good buy-low candidate for those teams scared off by his recovery.
Vikings quarterback Matt Cassel may be on a longer leash than originally thought over rookie Teddy Bridgewater. Cassel is a more-than-capable bridge (no punt intended) but teams typically don’t trade in to the first round for a guy they don’t want playing.
Expect Browns rookie linebacker Christian Kirksey to win the job and be a three-down back from the start. Kirksey will be playing on a talented roster and should see plenty of opportunities for tackles.

Daily Dynasty Update – June 19th

As expected, Toby Gerhart is expected to get a bulk of the carries in Jacksonville. Gerhart has plenty of tread left on the tires and is an interested dynasty case. He should top out as a RB2.
The Steelers are permanently installing the no-huddle which will mean more plays for the offense and an uptick for all players.
For those holding out hope that Matt Barkley might develop into something of value in dynasty leagues, you could probably move on.
In some positive Marcus Lattimore news, he looks better and more explosive. The 49ers running back situation is one of the most tenuous in dynasty.

Top five remains the same with McCoy, Charles, Lacy, then Martin and Peterson swapping four and five.
Rookies new to the list include Bishop Sankey at 17; Carlos Hyde at 23; Tre Mason at 29; Jeremy Hill at 33; Terrance West at 35; Devonta Freeman at 39; Ka’Deem Carey at 46; Andre Williams at 53; Lache Seastrunk at 54; Charlie Sims at 56; James White at 61; Jerick McKinnon at 65; Isaiah Crowell at 68; and Storm Johnson at 69.
Other notables include Toby Gerhart’s rise from 46 to 36 thanks to Jacksonville not providing any better options; Marcus Lattimore dropping from 29 to 43 thanks to Carlos Hyde; and Bryce Brown dropping from 35 to 47 thanks to his draft-day trade.

Daily Dynasty Update – April 30th

Geno Smith is heading in to training camp as the starting quarterback for the Jets. How long that will last remains to be seen with Mike Vick right behind him and Rex Ryan’s job on the line. Neither one are ideal dynasty buys – Smith because of his lack of talent and Vick because of his age.
Eagles linebacker Mychal Kendricks apparently played through a thumb injury last season that required him to be in a cast for a month this off-season. Despite that, he was still a top-20 IDPer and should stay there now that he’s healthy.
Patriots tight end Rob Gronkowski isn’t sure if he’ll be ready for the season after tearing his ACL in December. The news shouldn’t surprise anyone and further enhances my belief that he’d be a decent sell candidate. You just don’t know what you’re getting or when you get it.
The Jaguars are expected to make Toby Gerhart a work horse this season. His role is set up a lot like Michael Turner’s in Atlanta where current Jaguars general manager Dave Caldwell used to be.
49ers linebacker NaVorro Bowman isn’t expected to be ready for Week 1 and should be considered more likely to be back in the middle of the season. Bowman might be a decent buy-low candidate for a team that’s in win-now mode.

Updated Dynasty Running Back Rankings – April 2014

No changes in the top five: LeSean McCoy, Jamaal Charles, Eddie Lacy, Adrian Peterson, and Doug Martin.
Biggest riser this month is Montee Ball of Denver, going from 21st to 16th. With the signing of Knowshon Moreno off to Miami, Ball is, without a doubt, the starter in the high-powered Denver offense.
Other risers include new Giants starting running back Rashad Jennings going from 49th to 43rd. After finishing strong in Oakland, Jennings will be asked to take over the starting job in New York after the departure of Andre Brown and David Wilson‘s health still up in the air.
Another riser is new starter Toby Gerhart in Jacksonville. Gerhart wasn’t even ranked in dynasty circles until he signed with the Jaguars and is now 46th. Still just 27 without a lot of wear on those tires, Gerhart could be a decent running back option on a young, improving team.
The other significant riser is the Saints Khiry Robinson. With the Saints looking to run the ball more, Robinson is the youngest in the new New Orleans running attack.
Drops include the previously mentioned Andre Brown from 43rd to 48th. Brown’s ranking was contingent on his status as a starter. He ended up in Houston where he’ll back up perpetually injured Arian Foster so he’ll be an interesting handcuff in 2014 but shouldn’t be relied on.
Jets running back Bilal Powell also drops, this time from 54th to 59th. Powell drops to 3rd on the Jets depth chart after the signing of Chris Johnson.
