Dynasty Recap – Week 2 – Patriots dominate Vikings, 30-7

  • Even in the win, Patriots quarterback Tom Brady doesn’t look right and may finally be nearing the end of his fantasy relevance. You simply can’t roll with him as a QB1 anymore and certainly not in dynasty formats.
  • On the other side of the field, Vikings quarterback Matt Cassel had a horrible day with 202 yards passing a touchdown and four interceptions. With more losses, the calls will get louder for Teddy Bridgewater.
  • Meanwhile, Patriots receiver Julian Edelman continues to show why he’s the next Wes Welker with six catches for 81 yards while leading the team in targets along with a touchdown. He’s a solid WR2 in PPR dynasty formats.

Daily Dynasty Update – March 8th

  • casselThe Vikings re-signed quarterback Matt Cassel to a two-year deal, insuring him as a bridge quarterback. Not long ago, it seemed like none of the top QB prospects would be there at eight when the Vikings picked but with recent chatter, it’s entirely possible that one of Manziel, Bortles, or Bridgewater will be there.
  • Dynasty owners of Ravens tight end Dennis Pitta should have their patience pay off as he’s expected to be back at 100% before the season starts. Pitta put up TE1 numbers the season before his hip injury and should have no problem repeating that success once he’s healthy.
  • Saints running back Khiry Robinson is expected to handle a much bigger load in 2014 and, possibly, beyond. With Darren Sproles out, Pierre Thomas on his way, and Mark Ingram only under contract for one more year, Robinson is the best dynasty play in the Saints backfield (at the moment). Those that plucked him last year should be vindicated this year.
  • The Jets re-signed tight end Jeff Cumberland, leaving him as the starter with Kellen Winslow moving on. Cumberland hasn’t flashed any TE1 potential and the New York offense certainly doesn’t indicate anything like that happening. But he is a starter and could be a decent reserve in dynasty leagues.

Daily Dynasty Update – December 24th

  • Raiders quarterback Terrelle Pryor will start the last game of the season. Pryor will be playing for his job in 2014 as it’s expected that coach Dennis Allen won’t be back.
  • The Dolphins have under utilized the run this year causing the dynasty value of Lamar Miller to be a fraction of what it could be. If the Dolphins don’t make the playoffs, changes could be coming, any of which should be good for Miller.
  • The Vikings will start Matt Cassel in Week 17. It should be the swan song for all Minnesota quarterbacks as they desperately need a long-term solution. They’re expected to take one high in the 2014 draft.
  • Rams rookie receiver Stedman Bailey had his best game of the year, leading the team in targets, catches and yards. He also ran one in. He’ll be a hot commodity heading in to 2014.

Dynasty Recap – Week 4 – Vikings get first win over Steelers, 34-27

  • Pittsburgh running back Le’Veon Bell made his debut and looked good. He only averaged 3.7 YPC on 16 carries but had four catches for 27 yards. His role should only increase throughout the year.
  • Minnesota quarterback Matt Cassel had a stellar day with a 64% completion percentage, 10 YPA, two touchdowns and no interceptions. Minnesota will still search for a quarterback to groom but Cassel could have value this year in an effort to audition for a job next year. Just don’t be in a hurry to ride him to a championship.
  • Pittsburgh wide receiver Antonio Brown continues to snag the most targets for Pittsburgh. With 13 more to go with 12 catches, there is no doubt Brown is bottom-tier WR1 for dynasty purposes and more ideally a WR2.
  • Pittsburgh rookie receiver Markus Wheaton saw five  targets today, a season-high. As Wheaton develops, he’ll get more looks. He’s a good buy-low candidate.
  • Minnesota linebacker Chad Greenway had his best game of the year with 10 tackles, a sack, an interception and a pass defended. At 30, Greenway is most likely on the downside of his career and could make great trade bait for a contending dynasty team.
