Dynasty Recap – Week 7 – Falcons 10, Titans 7

Falcons

  • Running back Devonta Freeman continues to roll with 116 yards on the ground plus two catches for 14 yards. He’s been nothing short of a RB1 this year but I still wonder if he has true bell cow duties locked up for the foreseeable future.
  • Julio Jones had another solid outing with nine catches for 92 yards and a touchdown. He also had almost as many targets as the rest of the team. He’s an elite option at WR for dynasty leagues.

Titans

  • Running back Antonio Andrews took the lead in the Titans backfield with 57 yards on 10 carries. This is another situation where nothing can end well regarding the running backs. It’s best to just avoid.
  • Tight end Delanie Walker had seven catches for 55 yards and continues to be a sneaky, low-end TE1. If Marcus Mariota can progress, Walker can retain that value.

Dynasty Recap – Week 2 – Falcons 24, Giants 20

Falcons

  • Quarterback Matt Ryan went off with 363 yards and a touchdown. More days like this will push him squarely in the top five of dynasty quarterbacks.
  • His favorite receiver, Julio Jones, caught 13 passes for 135 yards on 15 targets. Jones can absolutely make the case for being dynasty’s top receiver.  
  • Rookie pass rusher Vic Beasley had five tackles and a sack in his second career game. It’s a good start for Beasley where he should be considered a DL4 but can easily top out as a DL2.

Giants

  • Despite the close losses, quarterback Eli Manning is still performing well with 292 yards and two touchdowns. He’s probably not a sure-fire QB1 in dynasty rankings but he’s a high-end QB2.
  • As Manning goes, those around him go like running back Shane Vereen. He caught eight balls for 76 yards and ran for 19 more. In PPR leagues, Vereen is a solid RB3.
  • Of course, the top dog in New York is Odell Beckham who turned in a 7/146/1 line today. He’s a top five dynasty option at WR and will be for a while.

  • Top five remains the same as we head into training camp: Dez Bryant, Julio Jones, Antonio Brown, A.J. Green, and Demaryius Thomas. 
  • Top rookies include Amari Cooper at 14; Kevin White at 18 and Devante Parker at 20. The next tier includes Nelson Algholor at 26; Breshad Perriman at 28; Dorial Green-Beckham at 30.

No doubt this list will change significant before the start of the season as roles are carved out. Be sure to follow us @dynasty_ffc for all the latest.

  • Top five has a slightly different order with Dez Bryant and Julio Jones the same at the top but Antonio Brown now third with A.J. Green and Demaryius Thomas behind them.
  • This year’s rookie class includes several fine options including Amari Cooper at 15; Kevin White at 18; DeVante Parker at 20; Nelson Algholor at 27; Dorial Green-Beckham at 29; Breshad Perriman at 30; Jaelen Strong at 44; Philip Dorsett at 51; Tyler Lockett at 58; and Devin Funchess at 60.
  • Notable drops include Justin Blackmon from 47th to 59th, no doubt thanks to the news that the Jags are ready to cut ties with him; and Terrance Williams from 51st to 63rd, primarily to the improvement of slot-man Cole Beasley.

Updated Dynasty Wide Receiver Rankings – April 2015

  • It’s been awhile since our last rankings but above is the final look at wide receivers before the 2015 NFL Draft. The updated top five is now Dez Bryant, Julio Jones, A.J. Green, Demaryius Thomas, and Antonio Brown.
  • Interesting notes are Calvin Johnson not only dropping from the top spot but out of the top five completely.
  • Four of last year’s rookies, all first round picks are in the top 15: Odell Beckham at 7, Mike Evans at 8, Sammy Watkins at 12, and Kelvin Benjamin at 15. This year’s rookie class is talented too but we may have reached the apex of top receiver talent with so many out there.

  • BenjaminTop five  remains  the same with Calvin Johnson, Dez Bryant, and A.J. Green staying the same. Julio Jones and Demaryius Thomas swapped fourth and fifth.
  • Big risers this week include Kelvin Benjamin to 18th from 37th; Emmanuel Sanders to 42nd from 56th; and John Brown to 60th from 72nd.
  • Big drops this month include Larry Fitzgerald at 28th from 21st; Tavon Austin to 45th from 34th.

Dynasty Recap – Week 5 – Giants beat Falcons 30-20

  • Giants quarterback Eli Manning continues to become more efficient with 200 yards and two touchdowns. With new personnel, it’s possible Manning regains his QB2 look but we’ll wait and see.
  • Falcons receiver Julio Jones continues to show why he’s a top end WR in dynasty with 11 catches for 105 yards on 16 targets. He can’t be stopped.
  • Giants rookie receiver Odell Beckham had a solid debut with four catches for 44 yards and a touchdown. It’s a promising debut albeit against a bad defense.
  • Falcons linebacker Paul Worrilow continues to rack up the tackles with 14. He’s averaging 12 tackles a game while the defense continues to struggle.

Dynasty Recap – Week 3 – Falcons destroy Bucs, 56-14

  • Falcons quarterback Matt Ryan led the charge with 286 yards and three touchdowns and that was only through three or so quarters. Ryan is a low-end QB1 in dynasty but it seems to depend on the competition.
  • The main beneficiary of Ryan’s big day was receiver Julio Jones with nine catches for 161 yards and two touchdowns. He’s squarely in the top-tier of dynasty receivers.
  • A bright spot for Tampa was running back Bobby Rainey with 41 yards rushing but seven catches for 64 yards. For PPR leagues, Rainey can be a decent play. More importantly, it keeps Doug Martin’s value up in the air.
  • Also, with quarterback Josh McCown faring so poorly, look for Mike Glennon to get a shot. He can’t be much worse than McCown and has the weapons to be effective.

Dynasty Recap – Week 2 – Bengals beat up Falcons, 24-10

  • Bengals running back Gio Bernard went off for 169 total yards and a touchdown. He’s a legit top five dynasty option going forward.
  • Falcons quarterback Matt Ryan came back down to earth with 231 yards, one touchdown but three interceptions. It further proves that Ryan is effective against sub-par defenses but can’t overcome a good one. Personally, he’s barely in the QB1 conversation for dynasty.
  • Meanwhile, Falcons receiver Julio Jones has seven catches for 88 yards and a touchdown. Not the best day but still a solid outing despite a poor team offensive performance.
  • On the IDP side, Falcons linebacker Paul Worrilow continues to rack up the tackles with 14. In tackle-heavy leagues, Worrilow is a LB1.

Dynasty Recap – Week 1 – Falcons beat Saints in shootout, 37-34

  • Matt Ryan had a big day back with 448 yards and three touchdowns against a decent Saints defense. More days like that and he’ll be back in the QB1 tier in dynasty leagues.
  • Saints running back Mark Ingram had a good day with 13 carries for 60 yards and two touchdowns.
  • Elite receiver Julio Jones had seven catches for 116 yards. He’s in the top-tier of dynasty receivers.
  • On the other side of the field, rookie Brandin Cooks had seven catches for 77 yards and a touchdown. He could reach WR2 status before the end of the year.
  • Falcons linebacker Paul Worrilow continues to rake with 15 tackles. He’s going to continue to flirt with LB1 status with double-digit tackle days like this.
