Dynasty Recap – Week 7 – Saints 27, Colts 21

Saints

  • Drew Brees had an ordinary day with 255 yards plus a touchdown and an interception. It becomes harder to keep Brees as a certain QB1 in dynasty formats.
  • Meanwhile, Mark Ingram had a good week with 143 yards plus a touchdown. He had two touchdowns vultured and actually had the same number of carries as Khiry Robinson but he made the most of them.
  • Rookie linebacker Stephone Anthony had seven tackles plus a big interception. He’s currently no higher than a LB2/3 but more plays like that and he could end up as a LB1.

Colts

  • Another high scoring day for Andrew Luck with 333 yards and three touchdowns plus two interceptions while playing most of the game behind. Luck’s play has fallen off to the point where no one thinks he’s the top dynasty quarterback anymore.
  • On the receiving side, T.Y. Hilton had a very TY-like day with four catches for 150 yards and two touchdowns. Hilton continues to be the top receiving threat in a pass-heavy offense which means good WR2 value.
  • LInebacker Jerrell Freeman had 12 more tackles and is now up to 48 on the season. In tackle-friendly formats, Freeman is a LB1/2.

Dynasty Recap – Week 6 – Saints 31, Falcons 21

Saints

  • It was a throwback game for Drew Brees as he throws for 312 yards on 30 of 39 passing and a touchdown. It’s a rare good week for Brees but we still consider him a fringe-level QB1 in dynasty formats.
  • Saints rookie receiver Willie Snead had another solid game with four catches for 55 yards. He’s averaging over 70 yards a game through his first six games and could be a long-term replacement for Marques Colton.
  • Linebacker Dannell Ellerbe had a big day with 14 tackles. He can be one of the few player makers on an otherwise weak Saints defense and could carry LB2 value in dynasty leagues.

Falcons

  • Matt Ryan had another good day with 295 yards and two touchdowns. He’s squarely in the mid-QB1 conversation in dynasty.
  • Devonta Freeman had another good day with 100 yards and a touchdown on just 13 carries. He also added eight catches for 56 yards and a touchdown. We don’t see Freeman being a three-down back going forward but should firmly stay as the receiving back which has plenty of value in PPR leagues.
  • Defensive end Adrian Clayborn had a sack and has two on the season. The 27-year old could be a decent DL3 option in dynasty as part of a weak Falcons defense.

Dynasty Recap – Week 2 – Buccaneers 26, Saints 19

Buccaneers

  • Quarterback Jameis Winston bounced back from a horrible debut with 207 yards passing and a touchdown along with 23 yards on the ground and another touchdown. This was the kind of performance we expected and it should solidify his status as a QB2 in dynasty rankings.
  • In IDP news, defensive end Jacquies Smith had a big day with three sacks giving him four on the season. The 25-year old has bounced around the league but may have found a place in Tampa and could end up in the DL2 conversation if he keeps these numbers up.

Saints

  • Quarterback Drew Brees turned in another sub-par performance with only 255 yards and a touchdown and an interception. It’s fair to wonder if his physical regression plus the loss of some key weapons has had its effect. He’s in the big group of low-end QB1s in dynasty rankings but you might want to get out while you still can.
  • Another weak performance for running back Mark Ingram with 53 yards on just 16 carries but he did have a touchdown. It’s interesting to remember the hype behind Ingram in the off-season but he can’t be considered more than a borderline RB2/3 in dynasty rankings.

Dynasty Update – Week 1 – Cardinals 31, Saints 19

Cardinals

  • Quarterback Carson Palmer had a huge day with 307 yards and three touchdowns. He should be a QB2 for as long as he’s around.
  • The Cardinals went with a committee at running back but it should be apparent that Andre Ellington is the better option over re-tread Chris Johnson. Ellington had 69 yards on 12 carries and a touchdown before spraining his PCL. Johnson had only 37 yards on 10 carries.
  • In the receiving game, veteran Larry Fitzgerald led the way with six catches and 87 yards. He could end up at WR3-4 value in dynasty rankings.
  • Safety Tryann Mathieu had a great game with eight tackles and three passes defended. He’s a high upside DB1 in IDP dynasty leagues.

Saints

  • Quarterback Drew Brees had a very typical game with 355 yards passing and a touchdown and interception. Despite the loss of Jimmy Graham, it looks like Brees will still put up gaudy passing numbers. He’s a mid-tier QB1 in dynasty rankings.
  • Running back Mark Ingram had a horrible game on the ground with just 24 yards rushing. However, he did haul in eight catches for 98 yards. He’ll need to boost his rushing yardage as CJ Spiller will take over the passing back role when he returns.

Dynasty Recap – Week 9 – Saints beat Panthers, 28-10

  • Saints quarterback Drew Brees had a good, not great, day with 297 yards and a touchdown. Certainly not the days from Brees were use to but Brees shouldn’t’ be  viewed as anything more than a mid-QB1 anyway.
  • Meanwhile, Saints tight end Jimmy Graham had seven catches for 83 yards and a touchdown which is more in-line with his usual production. He should continue to be an elite TE1 in dynasty formats even if Gronk challenges him for the top spot.
  • Panthers rookie receiver Kelvin Benjamin had a horrible game with just two catches for 18 yards on ten targets. The targets are encouraging but it won’t happen again if Benjamin only secures two targets.
  • Saints linebacker Junior Galette had two more sacks to make it six on the year. He’s just getting warmed up as a sack specialist and should be viewed as a poor man’s Justin Houston and a LB2/3.

Dynasty Recap – Week 7 – Lions slip by Saints, 24-23

  • Saints quarterback Drew Brees returned to a little normalcy with 342 yards and two touchdowns all without a full-strength Jimmy Graham. However, Brees has not looked like his usual self this year and is in the big group of QB1’s in dynasty formats.
  • The same could be said for Lions quarterback Matt Stafford with 299 yards and two touchdowns and two interceptions without Calvin Johnson. He’s had a sub-par (for him) season as well and is squarely in the QB1 bunch but definitely not elite.
  • Lions receiver Golden Tate had a big day while continuing his big season with ten catches for 154 yards and a touchdown. Tate is a solid WR3/4 in dynasty formats.
  • Saints linebacker Curtis Lofton had a season-high 16 tackles and has solidified his standing as a low-end LB1 especially in tackle heavy formats.
