Daily Dynasty Update – January 2nd

Dynasty Recap – Week 17 – Titans outlast Texans, 16-10

  • Titans running back Chris Johnson ran for 127 yards on 27 carries, for a 4.7 YPC, and a touchdown. While Johnson did run for 1,000 yards on the year, he’s still a low-end RB2 dynasty prospect (at best) and could even be playing somewhere else next year. A less run-conducive team would drop Johnson to RB3 status.
  • Titans receiver Kendall Wright had five catches for 50 yards to end 2013 with 90+ catches and 1,000 yards. It’s an impressive feat in Tennessee’s run-heavy offense in addition to poor quarterback play. Should the Titans move on from Jake Locker, Wright’s dynasty prospects will improve.
  • Texans end J.J. Watt had another sack and nine tackles to finish with 10.5 sacks and an impressive (for a lineman) 80 tackles. It wouldn’t hurt to inquire about Watt’s availability in your dynasty leagues to see if current Watt owners are ready to let go.

Dynasty Recap – Titans squeak by Jaguars, 20-16

  • Titans running back Chris Johnson had a decent day, running for 90 yards on 22 carries. The 4.1 YPC is above his season average of 3.7 but don’t expect this to give CJ another chance next year. He’s widely expected to be cut.
  • Titans receiver Kendall Wright had four catches for 22 yards on seven targets. But he passed 1,000 yards for the year and has 85 catches with little to no quarterback help. He’ll be a highly rated dynasty receiver next year.
  • Jaguars middle linebacker Paul Posluszny had a half sack. ‘Pos’ will be 20 heading in to next year but is still producing at a high level and not making much more than this year. He’s a reliable LB1.

Dynasty Recap – Week 9 – Titans edge Rams, 28-21

  • Rams running back Zac Stacy is a man. He went off for 127 yards on 27 carries and two touchdowns and added six catches for 51 yards. Stacy is performing despite the lack of talent around him and strong opposing defenses. He’s on his way to being a RB1 in dynasty leagues.
  • On the other side of the field, Chris Johnson had 150 yards on 23 carries plus three catches for 20 yards. I can’t believe it’s the start of a trend upwards – Johnson has had many chances to be consistent and hasn’t done it.
  • Titans receiver Kendall Wright led the team in targets and catches but wont’ produce much being in a first-run offense.
  • Rams linebacker James Laurinaitis had a good day with nine tackles and a sack. Laurinaitis is on pace for over 100 tackles and continues to be underrated.

Dynasty Recap – Week 6 – Seahawks outlast Titans, 20-13

  • Seattle quarterback Russell Wilson had an ok fantasy day, going 23/31 for 257 yards and over 8.0 YPA. He also had 61 yards on the ground but failed to score. Wilson will be a fine QB2 for many years to come.
  • Titans receiver Kendall Wright had the most targets of any Tennessee receiver with eight and had five catches for 69 yards. Wright is making the most of his weak supporting cast and is a great buy-low candidate.
  • Seattle running back Christine Michael had no carries (again) but don’t be deterred in his future talent. For dynasty leaguers, Michael is the ultimate taxi squad candidate.
  • Meanwhile, Tennessee running back Chris Johnson had 33 yards on 12 carries for an abysmal 2.8 YPC. Salvage whatever value Johnson has left and get rid of him now.
