- Holy crap – Tom Brady had 56 pass attempts and completed only 29 of them. He added 249 yards and a touchdown. If this game is any indication, the Patriots will be chucking it this season. If you’re a win-now dynasty team, Brady could be useful.
- Patriots tight end Rob Gronkowski made his triumphant return with four catches for 40 yards and a touchdown. He also led the team in targets. He should quickly re-affirm his status as an elite dynasty tight end.
- In other Patriot receiver news, Julian Edelman picked up where he left off with six catches for 95 yards. He should continue to be a WR in PPR dynasty going forward.
- For Miami, there’s no more doubt who is the top option in the running game as Knowshon Moreno went off for 24 carries and 134 yards and a touchdown. Lamar Miller can be dropped.
- In IDP news, Patriots linebacker Jerod Mayo had 12 tackles and a sack. He’s a legit LB1 in dynasty leagues.

- The top five remains unchanged with Aaron Rodgers, Andrew Luck, Drew Brees, Cam Newton, and Matt Stafford.
- Biggest drop was Matt Ryan but that’s more to do with the rise of Peyton Manning, Colin Kaepernick, and Nick Foles. The Falcons will be a hot pick for bounce back team of the year.
- The biggest riser was Ryan Mallett of the Patriots. Tom Brady is a year older and Mallett is still there. It only figures that he’s the quarterback of the future.
Dynasty Recap – AFC Championship – Broncos beat Patriots, 26-16
- Broncos quarterback Peyton Manning was incredible, going 32 of 43 for 400 yards, two touchdowns, and zero turnovers. There’s no doubt who the top quarterback in fantasy is and even in dynasty leagues, Manning should be viewed as a top-five QB. You’ll only get 1-2 years from him but it’s hard to ignore that production.
- Patriots receiver Julian Edelman, seemingly the only receiver that did anything decent this year, produced again. He hauled in 10 catches for 89 yards and a touchdown. He finishes the year the team leader in targets, catches, and yards. Tom Brady has already pined for his return. If Edelman is back in New England, he’ll be a borderline WR1 in PPR leagues.
- Broncos receiver Demaryius Thomas took advantage of an injured Aqib Talib with seven catches for 134 yards and a touchdown. As long as Manning is his quarterback, Thomas is a bona fide WR1.
Dynasty Recap – Week 15 – Dolphins upset Patriots, 24-20
- Patriots quarterback Tom Brady didn’t show any signs of slowing down without tight end Rob Gronkowski, going 34 of 55 for 364 yards, two touchdowns and a pick. Brady is still a QB1 in dynasty leagues despite the seemingly lack of talent around him. He can make it work.
- Dolphins quarterback Ryan Tannehill had another good game going 25 of 37 for 312 yards and three touchdowns with zero turnovers. Tannehill has strung together three good games in a row to coincide with the Dolphins three game winning steak. Tannehill is slowly, but surely, progressing and should be an intriguing dynasty quarterback next year.
- Patriots receivers Julian Edelman and Danny Amendola picked up the slack in place of Rob Gronkowski. Edelman had 139 yards on 13 catches while leading the team with 19 targets. Amendola finally busted out with 10 catches for 131 yards. Amendola is the only one of the two to be under contract next year so he’ll be the better dynasty prospect of the two.
- Dolphins receiver Mike Wallace had his fourth 100-yard game of the year with six catches for 105 yards on nine targets. Hopefully it’s a sign of things to come but until Wallace can string together more games like this, he shouldn’t be trusted.
Dynasty Recap – Week 14 – Patriots beat Browns, 27-26
- For the last few games, and even in this one, it looked like Tom Brady was back. He went 32 of 52 for 418 yards, two touchdowns and a pick. Of course, that was before the latest Rob Gronkowski injury. Stay tuned to see how Brady adjusts (again).
- Browns receiver Josh Gordon did things again. Catching seven for 151 and a touchdown, it’s fair to wonder if Gordon has reached the top-tier of dynasty receivers.
- Patriots running back Shane Vereen had quite the day out of the backfield, catching 12 for 153 yards. He even included a rushing touchdown. Vereen is under contract for one more year when he could be ‘Woodheaded’ out of New England but, for now, Vereen is a fine dynasty running back, especially in PPR leagues.
Dynasty Recap – Week 12 – Patriots come back over Broncos, 34-31
- Patriots quarterback Tom Brady looked like his old self again with 344 yards and three touchdowns with zero interceptions. Even at 36, Brady is a low-end QB1 in dynasty.
- Broncos running back Knowshon Moreno had a ridiculous night, carrying the ball 37 times for a career-high 224 yards and a touchdown. With a team-friendly club option for next year, expect Moreno to stick around at least through 2014.
- Patriots running back Shane Vereen looked like a RB1 with eight catches for 60 yards. He also added 31 yards rushing after fumbles plagued other New England running backs. Vereen is only 24 and signed through next year so dynasty leaguers will get at least one more year out of him.
- Broncos linebacker Von Miller had, by far, his best game of the year with eight tackles, two sacks, a tackle for a loss and a forced fumble. Hopefully Miller put his off-field issues behind him for good and he can continue to produce like a LB1.
Daily Recap – Week 9 – Patriots destroy Steelers
- Patriots quarterback Tom Brady finally woke up and went off for 432 yards and four touchdowns. Even with his age, Brady is in a pass-first offense and should be around for at least 2-3 years. He’s still a fine pickup in dynasty leagues.
- The recipient of some of those yards was rookie Aaron Dobson who had five receptions for 130 yards and two touchdowns on nine targets. If Dobson can improve his catch rate, he’ll be the beneficiary for a long time.
- Patriots running back Stevan Ridley also made a bit of a comeback with 115 rushing yards on 26 carries. Ridley will probably never be a top-tier option at running back but he should provide value with his youth and opportunity.
- Patriots defensive end Chandler Jones had another two sacks to bring his season total up to 8.5. The second-year defensive end should also continue to improve and has an unusually high (for a defensive linemen) 50 tackles in nine games.
Dynasty Recap – Week 5 – Bengals stop Patriots, 13-6
- Quarterback Tom Brady went without a touchdown pass for the first time in four years. Luckily, it appears Rob Gronkowski will be back this week and all will be right with the world.
- Running back LeGarrette Blount ran for a respectable 4.3 YPC in his 12 carries for New England. Of course, he also fumbled in the game so don’t be surprised if Stevan Ridley gets another chance to lock down the position.
- On the other side of the field, Giovani Bernard had 13 carries compared to BenJarvus Green-Ellis’ 19. Dynasty owners can expect the back-and-forth routine this year but Bernard should be good for years to come.
- Bengals rookie tight end Tyler Eifert saw a career-high seven targets to go along with five catches and 53 yards. The changing of the guard could become official soon so now would be the time to jump on the Eifert bandwagon.
- Patriots linebacker Brandon Spikes had his best game of 2013 with 12 tackles, two tackles for a loss, a pass defended, and an interception. Spikes had a solid 2012 with 92 tackles but that appears to have been his ceiling. I’d sell high on Spikes right now.
Dynasty Recap – Week 4 – Patriots escape Falcons, 30-23
- Patriots rookie receiver Kenbrell Thompkins is quickly becoming Tom Brady’s favorite target not named Gronkowski. Thompkins still is learning, which is evident when you consider Thompkins had 11 targets but only six catches. But he offers the most ability for Tom Brady and is the receiver to own in dynasty circles.
- With Stevan Jackson still out, the Falcons continue to split running back duties, giving Jacquizz Rodgers and Jason Snelling equal billing. Whoever wins the battle to the death is the backup to own in Atlanta as Stevan Jackson, as we’ve seen, might be breaking down more and more.
- Patriots running back Stevan Ridley continues to be downplayed by Bill Belichick. At this point last year he had 74 carries. This year? 47. Something is up but until Ridley has a breakout game, He’s a risk. Of course, his value has also taken a dive so he’s a good hold candidate at the moment.
Week 3 Dynasty Recap – Patriots control Buccaneers, 23-3
- The Patriot rookie receivers came alive with Aaron Dobson being targeted a team-high 10 times and pulling in seven while Kenbrell Thompkins caught the first two touchdowns of his career. Kudos to those that bought low or held on.
- Meanwhile, running back LaGarrette Blount ended up leading the Patriots in rushes with 14 over Stevan Ridley‘s 11. It could be due to the blowout win but Ridley’s opportunities and performance have been up and down this year. Hopefully it stabilizes before dynasty fantasy owners are forced to look somewhere else.
- Tom Brady continues to jell with the rookie receivers mentioned above and with Rob Gronkowski expected back any week now, now might be the time to buy on Brady.
- On the other side of the field, Tampa Bay running back Doug Martin had another pedestrian day. Martin is also an excellent buy low candidate.
