Dynasty Recap – Week 4 – Jets 27, Dolphins 14

Jets

  • Running back Chris Ivory bulldozed his way to 166 yards and a touchdown. He’s playing more like a low-end RB1 this year but is a definite RB2 in dynasty rankings as he should continue to be the focal point of the running game in New York.
  • Receiver Brandon Marshall is also playing like a top option at his position with seven catches for 128 yards. Despite being 31, you could roll with him as your WR2 in dynasty rankings.

Dolphins

  • Everyone looked bad today, led by quarterback Ryan Tannehill with 198 yards passing with two touchdowns and two interceptions. We just don’t see him as a reliable QB1 in any format.
  • Thanks to Tannehill’s lackluster performance, Jarvis Landry could never get off the ground with only four catches for 40 yards despite 12 targets. Landry will need more volume to be fantasy relevant.
  • On the bright side, safety Reshad Jones continues to be one of the to DB’s in dynasty IDP leagues. He racked up 11 tackles to lead the team.

Dynasty Recap – Week 1 – Dolphins 17, Redskins 10

Dolphins

  • Quarterback Ryan Tannehill had a good, not great, game going 22 of 34 for 226 yards and a touchdown and a lost fumble. Tannehill had plenty of hype heading into the season but didn’t show any of that in Week 1.
  • Running back Lamar Miller also had a pedestrian day with 53 yards on 13 carries plus a lone catch for 22 yards. Miller is a no-doubter as far as a lead back but don’t expect RB1 numbers. He can be considered a solid RB2 in dynasty rankings.
  • If you have receiver Jarvis Landry in a PPR league, he earned his keep with eight catches on 53 yards. This will be how Landry rolls all year – several catches for not many yards. He’s only a WR3 in PPR formats.
  • New tight end Jordan Cameron had a nice debut with four catches for 73 yards. He’ll be used a lot down the seam and could have low-end TE1 value in dynasty if he keeps this up.
  • Safety Reshad Jones had a huge day with 12 tackles and a pass defended. Jones can safely be considered a DB1 in IDP dynasty leagues.

Redskins

  • The lone bright spot for Washington was Alfred Morris busting out with 121 yards. If he can keep turning in 100-yard games, Morris will retain RB2 value in dynasty formats beyond this year.
  • At quarterback, Kirk Cousins surprised no one by going 21 of 31 for 196 yards a touchdown and two interceptions. We should see Colt McCoy any week.
  • Tight end Jordan Reed had a nice comeback game with 7 catches for 63 yards and a touchdown. If he can stay healthy, he can be another low-end TE1 in dynasty leagues.

Dynasty Recap – Week 17 – Jets beat Dolphins, 20-7

  • Jets rookie quarterback Geno Smith went 17 of 27 for 190 yards and no touchdowns and no interceptions capping off an uneven year. Smith will be the starter heading in to 2014 but needs better options around him to improve.
  • Dolphins quarterback Ryan Tannehill went 20 of 40 for 204 yards with one touchdown and three interceptions to end 2013. Tannehill is entering a crucial year where he’ll need to continue to progress in order to stick around. The Dolphins could also make a coaching change so stay tuned.
  • Dolphins running back Lamar Miller finished 2013 with 73 yards on 17 carries. Miller could also be considered one of the biggest fantasy disappointments this year and there’s nothing to indicate he’ll turn it around in 2014.
  • Dolphins safety Reshad Jones had 11 more tackles to finish the season with a career-high 107 tackles. His passes defended was down to four from nine but as long as the tackles stay consistent, he’ll be a DB1.
