- Big news from Denver as the Broncos are not expected to re-sign running back Knowshon Moreno. Montee Ball dynasty owners need to plan accordingly. Ball came on strong down the stretch and proved he can handle the load. With at least one year in a Peyton Manning offense, Ball could flirt with RB1 status in 2014.
- Lions running back Joique Bell claims there’s interest on both sides for a long-term deal. Bell came on strong in place of an injured Reggie Bush throughout the season with over 50 catches and over 1,000 yards from scrimmage. A deal would be good news for Bell but would significantly hinder Reggie Bush’s dynasty value going forward.
- New Redskins offensive coordinator Sean McVay loves his new tight end Jordan Reed. This will only enhance Reed’s value heading in to 2014. As a sufferer of a severe concussion last year, Reed’s health needs to be monitored especially playing such a busy position.
- A crowded backfield in Philadelphia could mean someone is on the way out, according to a Philadelphia blog. Additionally, with both Chris Polk and Bryce Brown being on the roster before Chip Kelly’s tenure started, the same blog suggests he could find one better suited to his offense in the draft or free agency. Stay tuned as this looks like it might be a fluid situation.
- Bears defensive lineman Shea McClellin is being converted to a strong-side linebacker. Maybe this will salvage some value out of McClellin who has been a huge disappointment as a lineman his first two years.
- Ravens running back Bernard Pierce had rotator cuff surgery and will miss the next 4-5 months. The recovery will impede his ability to get acclimated to new offensive coordinator Gary Kubiak’s system. Pierce was one of the bigger disappointments after averaging 2.9 YPC last year after a terrific rookie season. If the Texans offense is any indicator, Pierce would play the Ben Tate role to Ray Rice’s Arian Foster – if he can stay healthy.

Dynasty Recap – Week 17 – Vikings slip by Lions, 14-13
- Lions quarterback Matthew Stafford went 22 of 33 for 217 yards for a 6.6 YPA, another sub-par performance without Calvin Johnson. It’ll be interesting to see what the Lions do with the coaching staff and who it will affect. No matter what they do, Stafford will have even more pressure on him to perform next year.
- Vikings running back Matt Asiata had 14 carries for 115 yards for an 8+ YPC. He will not be an option next year on dynasty rosters.
- Lions running back Reggie Bush had an abysmal 2.3 YPC with 32 yards on 14 carries but added five catches for 33 yards and a touchdown. Bush’s value has definitely taken a hit with Joique Bell in the fold. It could be affected further depending on any coaching changes. Stay tuned.
- Vikings end Jared Allen had two more sacks for 11.5 on the year. Allen had 6.5 in the last five games of the year, showing he’s still got it. Allen will, most likely, sign with another team for 2014 and is still a viable IDP option.
Dynasty Recap – Week 16 – Giants escape Lions, 23-20
- Lions quarterback Matthew Stafford did not have a good day, going 25 of 42 for 222 yards and two interceptions with no touchdowns. He had a largely ineffective Calvin Johnson going which shows, yet again, how Stafford performs without him. It’s an interesting case for 2014.
- Lions running back Joique Bell took over the running back role in Detroit with 91 yards rushing on 20 carries and a touchdown along with ten catches for 63 yards. If Stafford fails to get anything going downfield, Bell is looking like his safety valve.
- Giants linebacker Jon Beason continues to play well with his new team, racking up 11 more tackles. He’s had 84 tackles in 10 games in New York. His cap number in 2014 shoots up so don’t expect Beason back.
Dynasty Recap – Week 14 – Eagles beat Lions, 34-20
- It was the LeSean McCoy show as he ran amok in the snow. McCoy went off for 217 yards on 29 carries and two touchdowns. This season should leave little doubt as to who is the top dynasty running back.
- Lions running back Joique Bell also took advantage of the snow, along with a last-minute injury to Reggie Bush to have 69 yards rushing to go along with four catches and 58 yards. He also added a touchdown. Bell is a must-have handcuff as he’s proven he can handle the load and Bush just can’t seem to stay healthy.
- Lions linebacker Stephen Tulloch had 10 more tackles to give him 107 on the year. It’s his fifth straight season of 100+ tackles. Tulloch is in the prime of his career and isn’t going anywhere soon.
Dynasty Recap – Week 13 – Lions destroy Packers, 40-10
- Lions quarterback Matthew Stafford had a very Matthew Stafford game, throwing for 330 yards on 22 of 35 passing with three touchdowns but two interceptions and a fumble lost. This is the Matthew Stafford dynasty leaguers will have to live with.
- Lions running back Reggie Bush had 117 yards rushing and 65 yards receiving on five catches with a touchdown. He did lose a fumble but that didn’t stop him. You have to wonder how Reggie’s fumble issues will affect his play going forward. Backup Joique Bell had 94 yards rushing on 19 carries with 34 yards on three receptions and another touchdown.
- Lions receiver Calvin Johnson had 101 yards on six catches and a touchdown. He’s the best and I have a man crush on him and I don’t care who knows it.
- A bright spot for the Packers was safety Morgan Burnett had nine tackles, two fumble recoveries and a touchdown. His value only increases as the Packers allow more yards and points.
- Lions rookie defensive end Ziggy Ansah had two sacks for the second straight game after missing a month. Playing in that system, in which Cliff Avril was a star, should only increase Ansah’s value along with his age and contract.
Daily Dynasty Update – October 19th
- With the trade deadline getting closer, there are several players on the trade block including receiver Kenny Britt from Tennessee. No one quite knows what the Titans plans are yet but with Kendall Wright providing some stability, the need for Britt in Tennessee is less. His stock might improve if he were traded but that’s a big if.
- Lions running back Theo Riddick will play more, if he’s available, due to the injury to Joique Bell. Neither are long-term solutions in your fantasy dynasty leagues but could be a throw-in to a trade down the road, especially to someone looking to handcuff Reggie Bush.
- Dallas receiver Miles Austin sat again as the Cowboys hope rest will fix what’s wrong with Austin and his hamstrings. He had an O-fer last week and is the fourth best option in the Cowboys pecking order after Dez Bryant, Jason WItten, and even Terrence Williams. You’d be wise to trade Austin as fast as you can.
- Chiefs tight end Anthony Fasano will most likely be playing this weekend. Rookie Travis Kelce was supposed to give Fasano a run for his money as the ‘move’ tight end but is out for the year. Fasano has value this year and maybe longer if Kelce continues to have issues next year.
Week 3 Dynasty Recap – Lions slip by Redskins 27-20
- The Washington offense continues to fire on all cylinders. Running back Alfred Morris averaged five yards a carry but only had 15 of them.
- Washington receiver Pierre Garçon was targeted 13 times and grabbed eight of them. He’ll continue to be Washington’s top target in the RG3 era.
- Defensively for Washington, Perry Riley had 10 tackles, a tackle for a loss, and a pass defended. He continues to be one of the bright spots for dynasty fantasy owners on an otherwise dismal Washington defense.
- Joique Bell did his best Reggie Bush impression and had 3.2 YPC while racking up 69 yards receiving. He had 132 total and continues to be a high on the handcuff list.
- For Detroit, Ezekiel Ansah continues to make people forget about Cliff Avril, tallying two more sacks today and a forced fumble.
