Dynasty Recap – Week 4 – Ravens 23, Steelers 20

Ravens

  • Running back Justin Forsett found his form with 150 yards on the ground. It was against a weak defense but it’s nice to see Forsett be effective. With a lot of tread in his tires, especially for a 29-year old, we still like Forsett as a RB2 in dynasty rankings.
  • Linebacker Daryl Smith had a big day with 13 tackles and a sack for his best game of the season. He continues to produce at LB1 levels despite his age.

Steelers

  • Running back Le’Veon Bell returned in style with 129 rushing yards and a touchdown plus seven catches for 21 yards. If there was ever any doubt about who the top dynasty running back should be, hopefully it evaporated with this game.
  • Receiver Darrius Hayward-Bey had a solid outing with four catches for 31 yards and a touchdown. He won’t be able to keep that production going when Martavis Bryant returns but could win the job for third receiver.
  • Linebacker Lawrence Timmons also had an LB1 day with 11 tackles and a sack. He’s up there with Smith as a bona fide LB1 in dynasty IDP leagues.

Dynasty Recap – Week 7 – Ravens rout Falcons, 29-7

  • Ravens running back Justin Forsett continues to get the work, piling up 95 yards on the ground. He out touched Bernard Pierce 25-8 and continues to be a RB2 this year. I can’t imagine Forsett going anywhere next year and could be a value.
  • Falcons receiver Roddy White had a throwback game with nine catches for 100 yards and a touchdown. We’d still move on from him in dynasty formats.
  • Falcons linebacker Joplo Bartu led the way with 15 tackles. But with so much uncertainty between him and rookie Prince Shembo, it’s a situation to avoid.
  • Ravens linebacker Daryl Smith had a good day with 13 tackles and a pass defended. Smith continues to play at LB1 level and should be considered that in dynasty formats.

Dynasty Impact – Baltimore Ravens select C.J. Mosley, LB

NCAA Football: BCS Championship-Alabama vs LSUDynasty Impact: Playing inside, the Ravens fill the role they had hoped Arthur Brown would fill last year. Mosley could step right in and play alongside Daryl Smith who, surprisingly, came on strong last year and should help improve the Ravens defense overall. His smarts and quickness will fit perfectly in Baltimore where he could be a LB1/2 in dynasty formats right away. For Arthur Brown owners, stay tuned to see what role he’ll have.

Daily Dynasty Update – December 31st

Dynasty Recap – Week 16 – Patriots blow out Ravens, 41-7

  • Patriots running back Stevan Ridley had his most carries in a game in a while with 15 for 54 yards. It may be a sign that Ridley is back in the fold with New England coaches realizing sitting Ridley’s talent is just silly.
  • Patriots receiver Julian Edelman paced the New England receivers, leading the team in targets (11), catches (7), and yards (77). Closing in on a 100-catch, 1,000-yard season, it’ll be interesting to see what the Patriots do with the free agent in 2014.
  • Ravens linebacker Daryl Smith had 11 more tackles, a half sack, and another pass defended. That’s now 19 passes defended on the year to go along with 118 tackles. Smith was supposed to be nothing more than a place holder for Arthur Brown but has taken over Ray Lewis’ position with authority. If he re-signs with Baltimore, he’ll be in the LB2 conversation.

Dynasty Recap – Week 15 – Ravens escape Lions, 18-16

  • Lions running back Reggie Bush returned to form last night with 86 yards rushing on 17 carries. Bush is a dynamic player and even better in that high-powered offense. But if he can’t stay healthy he’ll always be a boom-or-bust player.
  • Lions receiver Calvin Johnson had 98 yards receiving on only six catches. With rumblings about change in Detroit, Johnson is about the safest bet anywhere.
  • Ravens linebacker Daryl Smith filled the stat sheet with five tackles, a sack, and an interception. Smith was originally supposed to only be a fill-in until rookie Arthur Brown was ready but has played well. The free agent-to-be has 107 tackles, 4.5 sacks, three interceptions and an incredible 18 passes defended.
  • Ravens rookie safety Matt Elam had his best game in 2013 with 10 tackles, a tackle for a loss and an interception. Elam is one of crop of rookie safeties that should be around awhile.

Dynasty Recap – Week 4 – Bills slip by Ravens 23-20

  • Bills rookie receiver Robert Woods had a team high eight targets with four catches. Woods isn’t a flashy receiver but could continue to be fellow rookie E.J. Manual’s favorite target. If so, Woods is a great dynasty stash.
  • Meanwhile, the Bills ran the ball 55 times in the game. Lead back C.J. Spiller had to leave because of injury which allowed Fred Jackson to take over lead duties. Jackson actually ended up being more effective with over five yards a carry. But make no mistake, Spiller is still the man and is set up for long-term success. Provided he can stay healthy.
  • On the other side of the field, Joe Flacco might be airing it out more if the Ravens are going to fall behind. He had 50 pass attempts and finished with 347 yards, two touchdowns and five interceptions.
  • Subsequently, Torry Smith had 12 targets to go with his five catches and 166 yards and a touchdown. It looks like Smith will continue to be boom or bust with no help on the way.
  • Ravens linebacker Daryl Smith, taking over for Ray Lewis this year, had 12 tackles and has  three games of 10+ tackles in a row. If he remains this consistent, Smith could be the answer in Baltimore for the foreseeable future.
