Updated Dynasty Tight End Rankings – March 2015

Top five remains the same with Rob Gronkowski, Jimmy Graham, Travis Kelce, Julius Thomas, and Greg Olsen (he of the recent extension).
No major changes throughout the list except for Dwayne Allen to 14th from 17th. Of the two Colts tight ends, Allen is the one to own over Colby Fleener.
As far as rookies this past year, no one really set the world on fire so their rankings remain the same. However, of the big three from the 2014 class – Eric Ebron, Austin Seferian-Jenkins, and Jace Amaro – it looks like ASJ is ready to take the biggest step. With the probably arrival of Jameis Winston, ASJ will have a more competent quarterback to get him the ball.

Daily Dynasty Update – April 25th

The Patriots are hopeful that tight end Rob Gronkowski will be ready for week one. He isn’t practicing just yet so don’t hold your breath. Personally, I’d see what Gronks value is and move on. This article on Gronk’s injury history, and future, from Grantland was very accurate.
In other tight end news, Dwayne Allen is good to go for 2014. Colby Fleener failed to run away with the job last season so Allen’s chances are high for a productive 2014.
Colts running back Ahmad Bradshaw isn’t quite 100% yet but he’s still in line to contribute in Indy this season. However, with his injury history and the possibility that the Colts draft a running back, Bradshaw’s dynasty value is nil.
Eagles receiver Jeremy Maclin appears to be good to go. Maclin sat out all of 2013 with an injury but with DeSean Jackson in Washington, he becomes the primary target in a high-powered offense. His stock will only go up from now until draft day.
In other Eagles news, running back Chris Polk had major shoulder surgery which could prevent the team from trading or cutting Bryce Brown just yet.

Colts tight end Dwayne Allen jumped up a bit. I’m guessing it has more to do with fellow Colts tight end Colby Fleener‘s ability to take the starting job after Allen’s injury and run with it. Allen has more upside.
Dolphins tight end Charles Clay continues to move up as he was one of the few bright spots on the Dolphins offense this year. That team has many holes but Clay gives them some stability at the position.
Two rookies enter the rankings – Oakland’s Mychal Rivera and Seattle’s Luke Willson. Both played sparingly this year but showed flashes of ability. They’ll be playing for starting jobs in 2014 so now is the time to snag them.
Meanwhile, Seattle’s incumbent tight end, Zach Miller, continues to drop, likely because of the small chance he has of coming back to Seattle. Miller appears to be at the end of the line.
Falcons tight end Tony Gonzalez continues to drop but until those retirement papers are filed, I’m expecting Gonzalez back next year.

Titans quarterback Ryan Fitzpatrick had a decent night, going 22 of 28 for 222 yard and a touchdown. Even if the 30-year old plays well down the stretch, it will be Jake Locker or bust for the Titans.
Colts running back Trent Richardson had another poor game, rushing for only 22 yards on eight carries. He did add 31 yards on five receptions. But if this is the type of game Richardson produces week-in and week-out, he’s a poor fantasy option and certainly not a RB1. He’s now entering buy-low territory if he keeps this kind of play up.
Colts tight end Colby Fleener had his best game of the year with eight receptions for 107 yards. Hopefully this is the beginning of good things with Fleener.
After not starting for the first half of the season, Titans linebacker Colin McCarthy has played well in the place of Moises Foku. He had 12 tackles in the game. He now has 38 in his last four games along with two tackles for a loss, one forced fumble and one interception.

Colts receiver T.Y. Hilton had another great day with seven catches on eight targets for 130 yards. Even as the primary receiving option, Hilton can’t be stopped.
Colts tight end Colby Fleener had 10 targets but only hauled in four catches for 33 yards. With Reggie Wayne out for the season, this is Fleener’s time to make himself indispensable before Dwayne Allen’s return next year.
Rams rookie receiver Tavon Austin had two catches for 138 yards and two touchdowns to go along with a punt return for a touchdown. I’d like to think of this as the beginning of a great fantasy career but Austin only had the two catches. Personally, I need more consistency before making a serious commitment.
The Rams defensive linemen duo of Robert Quinn and Chris Long had a combined eight tackles, three sacks and a fumble recovery returned for a touchdown. Either one will make a fine DL1 on dynasty teams.
