Dynasty Update – Week 1 – Cardinals 31, Saints 19

Cardinals

Quarterback Carson Palmer had a huge day with 307 yards and three touchdowns. He should be a QB2 for as long as he’s around.
The Cardinals went with a committee at running back but it should be apparent that Andre Ellington is the better option over re-tread Chris Johnson. Ellington had 69 yards on 12 carries and a touchdown before spraining his PCL. Johnson had only 37 yards on 10 carries.
In the receiving game, veteran Larry Fitzgerald led the way with six catches and 87 yards. He could end up at WR3-4 value in dynasty rankings.
Safety Tryann Mathieu had a great game with eight tackles and three passes defended. He’s a high upside DB1 in IDP dynasty leagues.

Saints

Quarterback Drew Brees had a very typical game with 355 yards passing and a touchdown and interception. Despite the loss of Jimmy Graham, it looks like Brees will still put up gaudy passing numbers. He’s a mid-tier QB1 in dynasty rankings.
Running back Mark Ingram had a horrible game on the ground with just 24 yards rushing. However, he did haul in eight catches for 98 yards. He’ll need to boost his rushing yardage as CJ Spiller will take over the passing back role when he returns.

Dynasty Recap – Week 9 – Cardinals beat Cowboys, 28-17

Cardinals quarterback Carson Palmer had another good day with 249 yards and three touchdowns. As long as he’s healthy, he’ll continue to be in that QB1 tier of older QB’s like Brees and Manning.
Cardinals running back Andre Ellington continues to be a reliable RB1 with 95 yards rushing along with four receptions for 39 yards and a touchdown. Despite his age he should be considered RB1 in all formats.
Cowboys tight end Jason Witten had one of his best days of the year with six catches for 62 yards. Although, if that’s one of this best days, it shows how poor of a season it’s been. He’s nothing more than a TE2 at this point.

Dynasty Recap – Week 7 – Cardinals beat Raiders, 24-13

Cardinals quarterback Carson Palmer had a decent day with 253 yards and two touchdowns with an interception. Palmer is up there in age but should be a decent QB2 as long as he plays.
Raiders rookie quarterback Derek Carr had a bad day with 173 yards passing on 16 of 28 passing. He was playing a good defense but his prospects are entirely up in the air for next year.
Cardinals running back Andre Ellington had a big day with 88 yards to go with six catches and 72 yards. He’s a legit low-end RB1 in dynasty formats.
Raiders rookie linebacker Khalil Mack had a season-high 11 tackles in the loss but has yet to record a sack. It’s early but Mack doesn’t look like the LB2 he was touted to be.

Dynasty Recap – Week 5 – Broncos destroy Cardinals 41-20

Broncos quarterback Peyton Manning had a big day with four touchdowns and a personal record of 479 yards. He’ll be the top quarterback this year in fantasy but, depending on your needs, could be traded.
The biggest beneficiary was receiver Demaryius Thomas with 226 yards and two touchdowns. Thomas is still an elite option if Manning is in town.
Another receiver, Emmanuel Sanders, had a good day with 101 yards on seven catches. However, you have to wonder what his value is now that Welker is back. Be cautious and trade if you can.
A bright spot for Arizona was running back Andre Ellington with only 32 yards rushing but 112 yards receiving on four catches and a touchdown. He’s quietly established himself as a low-end RB1.

Dynasty Recap – Week 2 – Cardinals beat Giants, 25-14

Encouraging news with Andre Ellington toughing out 91 yards on 15 carries. Ellington continues to prove he can handle the rock and should be considered a high-end RB2 in dynasty formats.
Also a good day on the other side with Rashad Jennings with 64 yards rushing and four catches for 45 yards. He’ll also be a RB2 in dynasty formats for the foreseeable future.
Out of nowhere, new Giants tight end Larry Donnell had seven catches for 81 yards and was second on the team in targets. At just 25-years old, Donnell could be a borderline TE2 in dynasty leagues.
On the IDP side, Cardinals end Calais Campbell had a big day for an end with 10 tackles and a sack. Campbell is a legit DL1 in all formats.

Daily Dynasty Update – August 13th

Finally, some faith in Cardinals running back Andre Ellington as he’s expected to get 20 rushes a game. We’re not as high on Ellington as others since he’s already 25 but he should be a low-end RB1 for a year or two.
One running back in line for a lot of carries that we are high on is Gio Bernard. He should get 300 carries and goal-line carries.
Be sure to draft Bears quarterback Jimmy Clausen as a viable backup in dynasty as he’s expected to win the job to back up Jay Cutler. Cutler hasn’t played 16 games since 2009.

Daily Dynasty Update – July 3rd

In the wake of the Kiko Alonso news, the most likely candidate to replace him is rookie Preston Brown. He was a tackle machine at Louisville and could be a good value in IDP leagues.
The news is all good for Cardinals running back Andre Ellington this off-season. Coach Bruce Arians is predicting 25 carries a game which would put him on track for 300 on the year.
Dolphins defensive lineman Dion Jordan will be suspended the first four games of the, further complicating a chance to turn around his career. Jordan is not looking like a viable product in dynasty IDP leagues.

Daily Dynasty Update – June 30th

The Devonta Freeman bandwagon just got more crowded with word that his ascension to the top of the Falcons running back depth chart may happen sooner rather than later. Stevan Jackson is 31 and is no guarantee to return to the Pro Bowler he used to be.
Further confirmation that Arizona running back Andre Ellington will get 20+ touches per game. Ellington was blocked by Rashard Mendenhall last year but with Mendenhall retired, there is no one to stop Ellington from being the Cardinals work horse.
For however long Browns running back Ben Tate can stay healthy, he might be in a time share with rookie Terrance West.
Even with the signing of LaGarrette Blount, Le’Veon Bell is still expected to see over 300 touches. Bell is one of the few, young running backs that can be relied on for a few years which makes him a RB1 in dynasty leagues.

Daily Dynasty Update – May 28th

With the news of Cowboys linebacker Sean Lee tearing his other ACL, Dallas will probably be without his services for a full year. This means rookie linebacker Anthony Hitchens will be a hot commodity in camp.
There’s no waiting on Ryan Shazier in Pittsburgh as he’s already practicing with the first team. He’ll border on the first round in IDP rookie drafts.
Despite hip surgery in the off-season, Seahawks Kam Chancellor is expected to be back for the 2014 season. Chanchellor doesn’t get nearly as much attention as the other members of the Seattle secondary but he’s quietly been a reliable DB1/DB2, hovering around 100 tackles a year over the last three years.
Some welcome news from Arizona where coach Bruce Arians finally concedes what we all knew when he said Andre Ellington was a #1 back. He also said he looks to get him 25 carries a game. Ellington-owners can only hope.
Bengals running back BenJarvus Green-Ellis opened camp behind Giovani Bernard and rookie Jeremy Hill on the Bengals depth chart. If Hill plays well, he could be had in the second round of rookie drafts.
Ravens rookie running back Lorenzo Taliaferro was arrested over the holiday. Taliaferro and Ray Rice’s issues have not looked good for the Ravens. For fantasy purposes, Bernard Pierce may be one of the only running backs left to start the season.

Daily Dynasty Update – February 24th

Cardinals coach Bruce Arians confirmed that Andre Ellington will have an expanded role this year which is music to Ellington dynasty owners. Arizona went against conventional wisdom and held Ellington back last year but it looks like its full steam ahead for 2014.
Colts receiver Reggie Wayne should be ready to go for Colts camp. While not a long-term dynasty prospect, you could do worse with Wayne as your WR3.
The Packers are expected to let James Jones walk in free agency this year. Unless Jones ends up in a pass happy offense like Denver or New England, his dynasty stock will plummet.
The Jets may explore Ben Tate or Donald Brown in free agency. If either signs with New York, it’ll seriously hamper their dynasty value as at least Tate was expected to sign on as a starter somewhere. Tate dynasty owners assuming big things in 2014 may have to reel in their expectations.
Expect Tampa to go after a quarterback whether it’s free agency or the draft. Obviously, this continues the downward trend of Mike Glennon’s stock as he’s had no votes of confidence from the new regime.
