- Jets rookie quarterback Geno Smith went 17 of 27 for 190 yards and no touchdowns and no interceptions capping off an uneven year. Smith will be the starter heading in to 2014 but needs better options around him to improve.
- Dolphins quarterback Ryan Tannehill went 20 of 40 for 204 yards with one touchdown and three interceptions to end 2013. Tannehill is entering a crucial year where he’ll need to continue to progress in order to stick around. The Dolphins could also make a coaching change so stay tuned.
- Dolphins running back Lamar Miller finished 2013 with 73 yards on 17 carries. Miller could also be considered one of the biggest fantasy disappointments this year and there’s nothing to indicate he’ll turn it around in 2014.
- Dolphins safety Reshad Jones had 11 more tackles to finish the season with a career-high 107 tackles. His passes defended was down to four from nine but as long as the tackles stay consistent, he’ll be a DB1.

Dynasty Recap – Week 17 – Giants beat Redskins, 20-6
- Redskins running back Alfred Morris had 62 yards on 16 carries for a shade under 4.0 YPC. Morris was one of the few bright spots in Washington, most likely finishing in the top five in rushing yards.
- Redskins wide receiver Pierre Garcon had six catches for 56 yards and will finish in the top ten in receiving yards and over 100 catches. Garcon will be 28 entering 2014 and should be a high-end WR2 in dynasty leagues.
- Giants receiver Jerrel Jernigan had another nice game replacing Victor Cruz in the slot. He caught six catches for 90 yards and a touchdown and added 57 rushing yards and a touchdown. Jernigan figures to be in the Giants plans next year after Hakeem Nicks moves on.
- Giants end Justin Tuck added two more sacks for 11 on the year and is sure to cash in during the off-season. The Giants probably won’t bring back the 30-year old but Tuck is sure to land somewhere else and be a decent DL2 option in dynasty leagues.
Dynasty Recap – Week 17 – Vikings slip by Lions, 14-13
- Lions quarterback Matthew Stafford went 22 of 33 for 217 yards for a 6.6 YPA, another sub-par performance without Calvin Johnson. It’ll be interesting to see what the Lions do with the coaching staff and who it will affect. No matter what they do, Stafford will have even more pressure on him to perform next year.
- Vikings running back Matt Asiata had 14 carries for 115 yards for an 8+ YPC. He will not be an option next year on dynasty rosters.
- Lions running back Reggie Bush had an abysmal 2.3 YPC with 32 yards on 14 carries but added five catches for 33 yards and a touchdown. Bush’s value has definitely taken a hit with Joique Bell in the fold. It could be affected further depending on any coaching changes. Stay tuned.
- Vikings end Jared Allen had two more sacks for 11.5 on the year. Allen had 6.5 in the last five games of the year, showing he’s still got it. Allen will, most likely, sign with another team for 2014 and is still a viable IDP option.
Dynasty Recap – Week 17 – Steelers beat up Browns, 20-7
- Heading in to 2014, Steelers running back Le’Veon Bell looked good, rushing for 90 yards on 20 carries and a touchdown. Bell will be a RB1 in 2014.
- Steelers wide receiver Antonio Brown capped his stellar 2013 season with nine catches for 87 yards, finishing with over 100 catches and just shy of 1,500 yards. He also had five catches and 50 yards in each game, a first in NFL history Brown has elevated his game into WR1 status and will be just 26 heading in to 2014.
- Meanwhile, Browns receiver Josh Gordon had seven more catches for 82 yards. Gordon elevated his game to a top five dynasty receiver in 2014 and, assuming the offense improves around him, should be even better.
- With Jason Worilds out, rookie linebacker Jarvis Jones stepped in admirably with nine tackles and a pass defended. It’s been a largely disappointing 2013 for Jones but it’ll be interesting to see what the Steelers do between Jones, Worilds and LaMarr Woodley.
Updated Dynasty Running Back Rankings – December

- The top four remain the same with LeSean McCoy, Jamaal Charles, Adrian Peterson and Doug Martin. Shouldn’t be much change in the 2014 dynasty running back rankings either.
- The biggest riser this month were rookies Giovani Bernard (5) of Cincinnati and Zac Stacy (20) of the Rams along with New England pass specialist Shane Vereen (16). Both rookies were solid contributors all year and should have even more success in 2014 with more opportunities and earlier playing time. Vereen, with a whole year under his belt, should be a PPR monster.
- The drop continues to include Trent Richardson (12) who should be even lower heading in to 2014. Easily the year’s biggest disappointment.

- No changes in the top 11.
- The big risers this month were Dennis Pitta (15), returning from injury, and Ladarius Green (17), who was more involved in the San Diego game plan late in the season. Both are young and good and should be even higher heading in to 2014.
- The big fallers were Jermichael Finley (14), with questions lingering on how soon he’ll return, and Tony Gonzalez (24), who swears this is it. I’ll believe it when I see it.
- Youngsters Charles Clay (37) and Tim Wright (29) enter the list thanks to injuries on their teams giving them an opportunity. Wright has more of a chance at sticking around with no clear answer in Tampa.
Dynasty Recap – Week 16 – 49ers outlast Falcons, 34-24
- 49ers quarterback Colin Kaepernick went 13 of 21 for 197 yards and a touchdown while rushing for 51 yards and another score. Kaepernick and Russell Wilson are in similar situations wherein their value is capped by the talent around them. Should the 49ers dramatically improve their receiving corps, watch out.
- Falcons quarterback Matt Ryan had a nice night, going 37 of 48 for 348 yards, two touchdowns, and two interceptions. Ryan is a big bounce back dynasty player for 2014 with Julio Jones coming back.
- 49ers receiver Michael Crabtree showed what the 49ers what they were missing after catching five balls for 102 yards. Crabtree is one of those prospects that might actually improve in value with another top-notch receiver playing opposite him in San Francisco.
- Falcons receiver Roddy White had a vintage night with 12 catches for 141 yards and a touchdown. White will be 33 next year but, if healthy, is just as dominant as he always was.
- 49ers linebacker NaVorro Bowman had 11 tackles plus an interception returned for a touchdown. Bowman has filled the stat sheet all year and has a case for fantasy IDP MVP. He’ll be a top-ranked LB1 heading in to 2014.
Daily Dynasty Update – December 24th
- Raiders quarterback Terrelle Pryor will start the last game of the season. Pryor will be playing for his job in 2014 as it’s expected that coach Dennis Allen won’t be back.
- The Dolphins have under utilized the run this year causing the dynasty value of Lamar Miller to be a fraction of what it could be. If the Dolphins don’t make the playoffs, changes could be coming, any of which should be good for Miller.
- The Vikings will start Matt Cassel in Week 17. It should be the swan song for all Minnesota quarterbacks as they desperately need a long-term solution. They’re expected to take one high in the 2014 draft.
- Rams rookie receiver Stedman Bailey had his best game of the year, leading the team in targets, catches and yards. He also ran one in. He’ll be a hot commodity heading in to 2014.
Dynasty Recap – Week 16 – Eagles blow out Bears, 54-11
- Eagles quarterback Nick Foles was extremely efficient, going 21 of 25 for 230 yards and two touchdowns. He’s looking like a QB1 in dynasty leagues heading in to 2014.
- Eagles running back LeSean McCoy ran wild with 133 yards on just 18 carries and two touchdowns. He also added six catches for 29 yards. It’s been a race all year for fantasy MVP between McCoy and Jamaal Charles. Both are at the top of the dynasty charts.
- The game got so out of hand the Eagles backup running back Bryce Brown had 115 yards on just nine carries. Just this week we covered Brown’s disappointing year but this game may restore faith in his dynasty prospects.
- Eagles linebacker Mychal Kendricks was an animal with five tackles and two sacks. He now has 94 tackles and four sacks on the year. Kendricks is just 23 and should be a consistent dynasty produce for many years to come.
Dynasty Recap – Week 16 – Patriots blow out Ravens, 41-7
- Patriots running back Stevan Ridley had his most carries in a game in a while with 15 for 54 yards. It may be a sign that Ridley is back in the fold with New England coaches realizing sitting Ridley’s talent is just silly.
- Patriots receiver Julian Edelman paced the New England receivers, leading the team in targets (11), catches (7), and yards (77). Closing in on a 100-catch, 1,000-yard season, it’ll be interesting to see what the Patriots do with the free agent in 2014.
- Ravens linebacker Daryl Smith had 11 more tackles, a half sack, and another pass defended. That’s now 19 passes defended on the year to go along with 118 tackles. Smith was supposed to be nothing more than a place holder for Arthur Brown but has taken over Ray Lewis’ position with authority. If he re-signs with Baltimore, he’ll be in the LB2 conversation.
