2015 NFL Draft – 1st Overall Pick – Buccaneers draft Jameis Winston

After waiting months to make it official, Tampa Bay selects Florida State quarterback Jameis Winston as the first overall pick.

Winston has plenty of talent surrounding him with Mike Evans at receiver and Austin Seferian-Jenkins at tight end. Assuming he avoids a massive face plant, he should over take Mike Glennon immediately and be the week one starter. He has Dirk Koetter calling the plays in Tampa, who just came from working with Matt Ryan in Atlanta, which is a positive for his development. For dynasty purposes, there’s already a ton of quarterback talent but it’s rare you snag one that could be a QB2 his rookie year. He should only improve from there as he’s widely considered the best ‘pure’ quarterback in the draft. There’s a ton of talent to pick in your rookie dynasty drafts but Winson should be in the first round.

It should also help the dynasty prospects of Evans, solidifying him as a WR1, and giving Seferian-Jenkins a great opportunity to be a TE1.

Dynasty Impact – Tampa Bay Buccaneers select Mike Evans, WR

NCAA Football: Southern Methodist at Texas A&MDynasty Impact: Mike Evans will play second fiddle to Vincent Jackson but should quickly surpass him on the depth chart. He fills out a very talented offense with running back Doug Martin and elevates quarterback Josh McCown in dynasty leagues for the foreseeable future. Don’t be surprised if they draft a quarterback for the future in later rounds but, for now, McCown is a great stopgap in dynasty leagues. Martin should also benefit with even more attention taken away. Jackson, along with tight end Tim Wright, lose some value after definitely losing targets to Evans.

Week 3 Dynasty Recap – Patriots control Buccaneers, 23-3

  • The Patriot rookie receivers came alive with Aaron Dobson being targeted a team-high 10 times and pulling in seven while Kenbrell Thompkins caught the first two touchdowns of his career. Kudos to those that bought low or held on.
  • Meanwhile, running back LaGarrette Blount ended up leading the Patriots in rushes with 14 over Stevan Ridley‘s 11.  It could be due to the blowout win but Ridley’s opportunities and performance have been up and down this year. Hopefully it stabilizes before dynasty fantasy owners are forced to look somewhere else.
  • Tom Brady continues to jell with the rookie receivers mentioned above and with Rob Gronkowski expected back any week now, now might be the time to buy on Brady.
  • On the other side of the field, Tampa Bay running back Doug Martin had another pedestrian day. Martin is also an excellent buy low candidate.
