Dynasty Impact: St. Louis Rams selects Greg Robinson, OT

NCAA Football: Auburn at Louisiana StateDynasty Impact: A mauler of a left tackle, Robinson will be an immediate upgrade in run protection for the Rams. Slated to start the season at left guard to open his career, Robinson will eventually take over the left tackle position. This will bode extremely well for incumbent running back Zac Stacy with the Rams playing in a tough division full of top defenses. A potential Pro Bowler, the 6′ 5″, 332-pounder will also provide some much-needed protection for quarterback Sam Bradford or whoever ends up being the quarterback long-term. Robinson is also surprisingly quick with a sub-5.00 40-time at the combine. Still young and will need some coaching but will be a fantastic tool for all the Rams specialists.

Daily Dynasty Update – May 6th

Daily Dynasty Update – January 25th

  • Giants receiver Victor Cruz is recovering nicely from knee surgery which bodes well for a bounce back year in 2014. With new offense coordinator Ben McAdoo from the Packers, all Giants offensive players will get a bump up in dynasty leagues.
  • Colts receiver Da’Rick Rogers should be good to go in 2014 after having to prove his past issues were behind him. Good thing for dynasty leaguers as Rogers projects to man one of the outside spots with Reggie Wayne while T.Y. Hilton does damage in the slot.
  • Looks like any scenario where the Rams draft a quarterback with the second pick are out. It’s not a bad idea with Sam Bradford costing a fortune and still has not proven that he’s the long-term solution. The #2 pick is in major flux.
  • Expect Heath Miller to stick around Pittsburgh as he is expected to sign a cap-friendlier extension. Miller’s certainly not a flashy option at tight end but he plays a ton of snaps and is a favorite target of Ben Roethlisberger.

Dynasty Quarterback Rankings – December

Click here for updated quarterback rankings for December.

  • Few changes at the top except Robert Griffin III and Matt Stafford flipping five and six; Russell Wilson and Matt Ryan swapping seven and eight; and Peyton Manning and Colin Kaepernick switching nine and ten.
  • Notable drops include Jay Cutler going from 13 to 16 with uncertainty around where he’ll play next along with his surprisingly full injury history. Also Sam Bradford from 17 to 21 after his torn ACL and some uncertainty on what St. Louis will do with their #2 pick.
  • Big risers include Ben Roethlisberger from 20 to 17 after his highly productive month; Nick Foles made the biggest jump from 30 to 21 thanks to his All-Pro season. His ranking is sure to rise in 2014.

Dynasty Recap – Week 6 – Rams destroy Texans, 38-13

  • Texans running back Arian Foster is, apparently, back. He totaled 198 yards on the day. Meanwhile, Ben Tate 10 carries compared to 20 for Foster. He also only averaged 1.2 yards YPC. Now is the ideal buy-low time on Tate since he’ll be moving on to greener pastures next year.
  • Rams quarterback Sam Bradford had a very efficient day with 75% of his passes completed for only 117 yards but with three touchdowns. I still don’t see Bradford being a long-term fantasy starter but he could be a very good QB2.
  • Rams rookie running back Zac Stacy had a productive day with 79 yards on 18 carries. He added two catches for 11 yards. So far, he’s been the Rams most productive running back and should keep the starting job for a while.
  • Rams rookie linebacker Alec Ogletree had a breakout game with 10 tackles, a pass defended and an interception returned 98 yards for a touchdown.  Paired with Robert Quinn and Chris Long, he should be a solid contributor for a good Rams defense for years to come.

Dynasty Recap – Week 4 – 49ers bounce back against Rams, 35-11

  • San Francisco finally went back to Frank Gore and, lo and behold, it worked! He went off for 153 yards. It’s hard to see Gore not being around to see his contract through 2014. Marcus Lattimore dynasty owners might have to wait.
  • Vernon Davis didn’t have a spectacular night but still caught a touchdown. It continues to boggle the mind that the 49ers don’t utilize him more in the passing game. It also doesn’t bode well for the chances of young tight ends Vance McDonald and Chris Harper to be productive under the current regime.
  • Rams quarterback Sam Bradford is going to pass the ball. A lot. He had 41 attempts last night with four receivers getting eight targets or more. Now, if they could just catch them…
  • On the flip side, the Rams will NOT be running the ball this year. See our report in the daily dynasty update.
  • 49ers linebacker Michael Wilhoite stepped in for Patrick Willis last night and had seven tackles. With the 49ers ability to pick up linebackers and develop them into IDP studs, keep an eye on Wilhoite.

Week 3 Dynasty Recap – Cowboys dominate Rams, 31-7

  • I think the Sam Bradford train is starting to lose some steam. He had a 5.0 YPC after 48 pass attempts. The lack of a running game doesn’t help.
  • Isaiah Pead took over running back duties for an injured Daryl Richardson but didn’t exactly impress. He had a 3.3 YPC after St. Louis went down early but was a bright spot with seven catches. That may be his niche in that offense which isn’t a bad thing. He’s just not a workhorse.
  • Cowboys running back DeMarco Murray had a huge day with 175 yards. Murray has a ton of talent and is young with the starting job locked up. The issue continues to be just how many rushes he gets. He could get 26 as he did this week or 12 like last week. Still a lot of upside however.
  • Cowboys end DeMarcus Ware had two more sacks bringing his total to four this season. The switch to end has been very good for Ware and wouldn’t be a bad pickup for your DL2 in dynasty leagues. There’s not many players that are more reliable.
