- Chiefs running back Jamaal Charles might be getting the ball more if that’s possible. While this is great news for 2013, keep an eye on Charles in the near future to make sure the tread doesn’t completely wear off those tires.
- Falcons tight end Tony Gonzalez stated he’s not asking for a trade. However, I’m sure Gonzalez didn’t envision the Falcons getting off to a 1-4 start which would lead one to believe he might give it another go. I’d be buying low on Gonzalez right now. Even if it’s for the last half of a season, he’s a top five tight end option and more so with Julio Jones out for the year.
- The Texans will start Case Keenum at quarterback Sunday. If Keenum can show anything against the Chiefs, don’t be surprised if Matt Schaub is permanently benched. Schaub has little to no value in dynasty circles anymore.
- Eagles quarterback Mike Vick is out again, giving Nick Foles another audition. It’s very possible Foles could be the starter going forward with another good showing. He threw for three touchdowns last week in a win over Tampa.

Dynasty Recap – Week 6 – Eagles down Bucs, 31-20
- Eagles quarterback Nick Foles had a great game, going for 296 yards and three touchdowns on 22 of 31 passing. With more games like this, the Eagles may hand the keys over to Foles instead of Vick long-term.
- Bucs rookie quarterback Mike Glennon had a decent game against a bad defense, going 26 of 43 for 273 yards with two touchdowns and one interception. Currently, Glennon is the starter but that could change for Tampa after next year’s draft and a probable top five pick. Glennon’s future is extremely cloudy.
- Bucs second-year linebacker Lavonte David continues having a good season with nine more tackles, a sack and a tackle for a loss. He now has 29 tackles, four passes defended and three tackles for a loss on the season. David is ideal in big play IDP leagues and should continue to fill the stat sheet for many years.
Dynasty Recap – Week 5 – Eagles down Giants, 36-21
- With Giants quarterback Eli Manning averaging a whopping 40 pass attempts a game, the targets are coming in droves. This week it was Rueben Randle leading the way with 13 to go with six catches and 96 yards. With Hakeem Nicks expected to leave via free agency this year, Randle is the heir apparent to Nick’s spot and should be targeted in dynasty circles.
- Running back David Wilson had only six carries before leaving with an injury. On the season, Wilson is averaging 3.3 YPC after averaging 5.0 last year. Now could possibly be the best time to pick Wilson off as a buy-low candidate from those fed up with his lack of production.
- Eagles receiver DeSean Jackson is back to his usual boom-or-bust self with seven catches for 132 and a touchdown. He seems to be the favorite no matter who’s at quarterback, totaling 12 targets when the next highest total was LeSean McCoy at eight.
- Speaking of targets, rookie Zach Ertz had a career-high three targets and two catches. It remains to be seen where Ertz will fit in as incumbent Brent Celek is still entrenched as the starter and has three more years on his contract. Ertz could also be a buy-low candidate.
- Quarterback Nick Foles will audition for teams as he takes over for the injured Mike Vick. However, it would seem that, with so many quarterback in 2014’s rookie class, Foles won’t necessarily be able to cash in a la Matt Flynn. I don’t see Foles breaking out.
Daily Dynasty Update – August 19th
It’s almost time sports fans.
- Roy Helu has locked up the backup running back position in Washington. An infinitely better receiver than Alfred Morris, he’ll be in on passing downs.
- Quarterback Blaine Gabbert will get the start in Jacksonville, it looks like. Gabbert has one more to prove himself long-term.
- Buffalo QB E.J. Manual had minor knee surgery which could keep him out of the first week but shouldn’t affect him long-term. Still draft him in dynasty leagues.
- After opening camp in a dead heat with Michael Vick, Nick Foles has been playing soft and all but lost the starting job. Foles is only a viable pick in dynasty leagues if you have Vick now.
- Jermichael Finley and Aaron Rodgers have developed good chemistry in Green Bay. Uh huh. Don’t get too excited about Finley until game time.

Daily Dynasty Football Update – August 1st
- Vernon Davis has taken snaps in the slot. This bodes well for everyone involved and firmly puts in Davis among the top five tight ends in dynasty rankings.
- Pittsburgh is instituting a zone-blocking scheme in the run game which should pump up Le’Veon Bell’s numbers. Alfred Morris racked up 1,600 yards in the same scheme last year. Bell’s current 23rd dynasty ranking seems low and should shoot up soon. Grab him if you can.
- Jamaal Charles is getting more looks in the passing game. As the story notes, under Andy Reid, his best running back, Brian Westbrook, had 50 catches for five straight years. Hopefully, Charles can hold off Father Time for a few years as he’s already at 27.
- Julio Jones is getting better? Yikes.
- E.J. Manual is looking good in camp as well. He should be the first rookie quarterback taken off your dynasty board due to the weapons, the opportunity, and the skill.
- DeAndre Hopkins is projected to get 52-60 catches his rookie season. That’s a great floor to have as a dynasty prospect in his rookie year. Hopkins should be the second rookie receiver on your dynasty board.
- The hope is St. Louis is Jared Cook finally becomes the receiving tight end stud he was supposed to be in Tennessee. In a tight end starved situation as dynasty fantasy football, Cook is a top-10 pick.
- Colin McCarthy is practicing with the first unit again. McCarthy was supposed to be a dynasty linebacker stud last year but injuries cut that short. He currently sits at #24, due to those injuries, in our dynasty rankings with room for potential.
- Patrick Willis will have an x-ray on his hand today. Willis has had similar injuries without missing any meaningful time but it gets amplified due to his age (28). Willis is currently at 5 in our dynasty rankings.
- Michael Vick has taken the lead in Eagles camp with Nick Foles looking average. This will put a dent in Foles dynasty value and maybe increase Barkley’s.
- Cordarrelle Patterson has yet to practice with the first team in Minnesota. With one year of big-time college football under his belt, that’s to be expected. Patterson still has a lot of upside but don’t expect a lot, if anything, in year one.
That seems like a lot of ground covered. We’ll see what today has in store.
