Dynasty Recap – Week 12 – Saints edge Falcons, 17-13

  • Saints quarterback Drew Brees had a good day, going 23 of 33 for 278 yards and two touchdowns with an 8+ YPA. Brees is a top three dynasty quarterback, regardless of age.
  • Saints running back Pierre Thomas had a great day in place of Darren Sproles. Rushing for 73 yards on just 10 carries he added 57 yards on five receptions. This just shows how valuable a primary running back in New Orleans could be.
  • Falcons receiver Harry Douglas continues to produce, drawing a team-high 11 targets for nine catches and 79 yards. It’s hard to say where Douglas fits in the 2014 Falcons plans but he’s making the most of his opportunity.
  • Saints defensive end Cameron Jordan was a beast with six tackles, 2.5 sacks, two tackles for a loss and even a pass defended. At 24, Jordan is a definitive DL1 in dynasty circles.

Dynasty Recap – Week 10 – Saints dominate Cowboys, 49-17

  • The Saints ran all over the Cowboys with continual fantasy disappointment Mark Ingram thrashing them for 145 yards on just 14 carries. Pierre Thomas  added 87 yards on 17 carries. Don’t get too excited, however, as the Cowboys have one of the worst defenses in the league. Sell high on either one if you can.
  • The passing game also did damage but that was no surprise. Quarterback Drew Brees distributed the ball fairly evenly with Marques Colston leading the way in targets, catches and yards. It’s still a week-to-week guess who Brees’ favorite is with the exception of tight end Jimmy Graham. There just isn’t a receiver in New Orleans reliable enough to count on.
  • Cowboys safety Barry Church had 14 more tackles to give him 80 on the year putting him on pace for 128. Of course, with the Cowboys pass defense so abysmal, it’s not hard to envision any safety on the Dallas defense having a lot of tackles. It will remain to be seen if Church will still be around after the inevitable shake-up coming n the off-season.
  • Cowboys linebacker Bruce Carter had a good day with 12 tackles, giving him 60 for the year. He’s now on pace for 100 tackles but, like Church, it remains to be seen if he’ll be around in Dallas in 2014.

Dynasty Recap – Week 8 – Saints down Bills, 35-17

  • Saints quarterback Drew Brees was downright surgical with five touchdowns and nearly 10 YPA. Even at his age, Brees is a top three option in dynasty circles. You just can’t ignore that level of consistency.
  • Brees’ teammate Pierre Thomas had an efficient day with 65 rushing yards on 14 carries and add three catches for 29 yards. He’s got one more year on a team-friendly contract and with Mark Ingram seemingly on his way out, Thomas should have value for at least the next year and a half.
  • Bills tight end Scott Chandler had, by far, his best game of the year with seven catches for 72 yards. Don’t be fooled though as this is not the sign Chandler owners were looking for. A free agent after this year, the Bills will be on the lookout for an upgrade.
  • Saints rookie receiver Kenny Stills had three catches for 129 yards and a long touchdown. But this is par for the course for any Saints receiver. Stills is a boom-or-bust receiver as long as he’s in New Orleans.
