Dynasty Recap – Week 7 – Vikings 28, Lions 19

Vikings

  • Quarterback Teddy Bridgewater got back on track with 316 yards plus two touchdowns. He struggled to start the season but more games like this put him back in the QB1 conversation.
  • Receiver Stefon Diggs continues to impress with six catches for 108 yards and a touchdown. It was also the first time he led the team in targets. Diggs has the potential to be a good WR2/3 in dynasty formats.
  • Rookie linebacker Eric Kendricks had six tackles plus two sacks, doubling his sack total for the season. More games like this and he’ll be a solid LB2/3 in dynasty IDP formats.

Lions 

  • Matt Stafford was on his way to get back on track with 256 yards and two touchdowns before getting hurt. Stafford could still end up in the QB1 conversation by the end of the season but it’ll take a lot.
  • Meanwhile, rookie Ameer Abdullah appears to have taken over the starting job permanently, leading the team with eight carries for 43 yards. He’s not quite setting the world on fire like other rookie runners but could still be a decent RB2 in dynasty formats.
  • Tight end Eric Ebron continues to string together good performances with five catches for 83 yards and a touchdown. He’ll need to be more consistent to enter the TE1 conversation but he could be a good buy low candidate.

Dynasty Recap – Week 2 – Vikings 26, Lions 16

Vikings

  • Quarterback Teddy Bridgewater had another average game with 153 yards and a touchdown but added 21 yards on the ground and another touchdown. No need to abandon ship on Bridgewater yet but hopefully the hype catches up soon.
  • Meanwhile, Adrian Peterson ran wild for 134 yards rushing plus 58 yards receiving. He should continue to be a RB1 in dynasty rankings until he shows he can’t do it.
  • Tight end Kyle Rudolph had another five-catch game with 30 yards and a touchdown. He’ll continue to rise in the dynasty rankings.

Lions

  • Quarterback Matt Stafford had a very Stafford-like game with 286 yards on 53 pass attempts with two touchdowns and an interception. Stafford has clearly played himself out of elite QB1 status in dynasty leagues.
  • Rookie running back Ameer Abdullah had a poor game with nine yards rushing and nine yards receiving on just eight touches. He should still lead the team in carries going forward so he’ll be fine.
  • Receiver Calvin Johnson bounced back with 10 catches for 83 yards and a touchdown. He may not be the elite dynasty receiver he was but he’s still a low-end WR1.

Dynasty Recap – Week 1 – Chargers 33, Lions 28

Chargers

  • Quarterback Philip Rivers had a great 2015 debut with 404 yards, two touchdowns and two interceptions. He’s another veteran that is still reliable. He’s a low-end QB1 in dynasty rankings and should be for a few years.
  • Rookie Melvin Gordon had a sub-par debut with just 51 yards on 14 carries. He’s currently viewed as a RB1 in dynasty leagues but should probably be considered a RB2 until he can prove otherwise.
  • Receiver Keenan Allen had a huge day with 15 catches for 166 yards. If Rivers keeps up his performance, Allen will be the prime beneficiary and should be viewed as a low-end WR2 with upside.
  • Safety Eric Weddle proved why he should be considered a DB1 in IDP dynasty leagues with nine tackles and two passes defended. There’s no telling how many years Weddle has left but it’s about reliability in IDP and Weddle has it.

Lions

  • A couple of semi-breakout games for Detroit. First, rookie Ameer Abdullah  ran for 50 yards and a touchdown plus four catches for 44 yards. If he keeps this up, he’s squarely a RB2 in PPR dynasty leagues.
  • The second was second-year tight end Eric Ebron with four catches for 53 yards and a touchdown. Hopefully it’s a sign of things to come and Ebron can be the solid TE1 he was drafted to be.

Dynasty Rookie Mock Draft – May 2015

It’s been less than a week since the NFL Draft started but we already have an idea at which rookies you should target. We did a 12-team, offense-only rookie mock draft. Below are the results:

  • 1st overall pick – Todd Gurley – RB – St. Louis Rams – Todd Gurley is the only prospect with generational talent and he’ll get the carries needed to justify this selection. The offensive line is a question but imagine Adrian Peterson in 2012. He didn’t need one and neither will Gurley.
  • 2nd overall pick – Kevin White – WR – Chicago Bears – White has the size and credentials to be a WR1 and will start immediately. He enters a better situation than fellow rookie receiver Amari Cooper and should immediately have 1,000 yard seasons.
  • 3rd overall pick – Melvin Gordon – RB – San Diego Chargers – Elite skills everywhere minus the size of a Gurley. The Charles comparisons are lazy but probably accurate here. And there is NO competition from day one. Just an overall clean prospect going to a great situation.
  • 4th overall pick – Amari Cooper – WR – Oakland Raiders – Just 21 when the season starts, Cooper was the consensus top receiver in college last year and followed it up with a great combine including a sub-4.4 40-time. Doesn’t have the best situation but should overcome that.
  • 5th overall pick – DeVante Parker – WR – Miami Dolphins – Assuming the medical stuff checks out on the foot, he’s an excellent receiver with a chance to be a day one starter. Reminds me of Crabtree pre-achillies injury.
  • 6th overall pick – Nelson Algholor – WR – Philadelphia Eagles – The heir apparent to Jeremy Maclin, Algholor is a crisp route runner and can return punts which just add to his versatility. If you’re a believe in Chip Kelly, you’ll love Algholor.
  • 7th overall pick – Jameis Winston – QB – Tampa Bay Buccaneers – I’m as scared by the qbs as anyone but st this point in the first its worth it. Offensive line permitting, he can accumulate stats his first year.
  • 8th overall pick – Ameer Abdullah – RB – Detroit Lions – His low center of gravity coupled with his career 5.5 YPC figures to translate to the NFL. He also enters a good situation with only the pedestrian Joique Bell ahead of him for early-down duty.
  • 9th overall pick – Marcus Mariota – QB – Tennessee Titans – Assuming he’s the starter from day one, he’s worth drafting at the end of the first round of this rookie mock draft.
  • 10th overall pick – T.J. Yeldon – RB – Jacksonville Jaguars – Yeldon has the size and experience to be a three-down back and is drawing comparisons to a poor man’s Arian Foster. He has little-to-no competition in Jacksonville and should start right away.
  • 11th overall pick – Maxx Williams – TE – Baltimore Ravens – The only TE guaranteed to start from day one. Joe Flacco will love him and make the targets readily available.
  • 12th overall pick – Breshad Perriman – WR – Baltimore Ravens – The arrival of offensive coordinator Marc Trestman coupled with the lack of competition creates a golden opportunity for Perriman. He takes over Torrey Smith’s spot immediately and will love Joe Flacco’s big arm.
