2015 NFL Draft – 3rd Overall Pick – Jaguars draft Dante Fowler, Jr.

Adding to Gus Bradley’s young defense, the Jaguars pick edge rusher Dante Fowler out of Florida with the third overall pick.

Fowler is the top defensive player off the board but should only contribute to dynasty leagues as a sack specialist. He won’t be drafted highly in dynasty rookie drafts unless you have big play scoring. He’ll be a much more effective real-life player than a fantasy player.

2015 NFL Draft – 2nd Overall Pick – Titans draft Marcus Mariota

After almost dealing away the pick (which they still may), Tennessee drafted Oregon quarterback Marcus Mariota.

If he stays, Mariota doesn’t have a lot to work with. His top receiver is Kendall Wright and has the disappointing Bishop Sankey behind him. The line protecting him isn’t great either. However, some project him to be better than Winston and has the added dimension of his legs. He also has coach Ken Whisenhunt, he of the Philip Rivers reclamation project, to guide him.

For dynasty purposes, he could be drafted ahead of Winston if your dynasty team can afford to let him ride the bench. Most likely won’t be in the first for most drafts but could be a good value in the second.

2015 NFL Draft – 1st Overall Pick – Buccaneers draft Jameis Winston

After waiting months to make it official, Tampa Bay selects Florida State quarterback Jameis Winston as the first overall pick.

Winston has plenty of talent surrounding him with Mike Evans at receiver and Austin Seferian-Jenkins at tight end. Assuming he avoids a massive face plant, he should over take Mike Glennon immediately and be the week one starter. He has Dirk Koetter calling the plays in Tampa, who just came from working with Matt Ryan in Atlanta, which is a positive for his development. For dynasty purposes, there’s already a ton of quarterback talent but it’s rare you snag one that could be a QB2 his rookie year. He should only improve from there as he’s widely considered the best ‘pure’ quarterback in the draft. There’s a ton of talent to pick in your rookie dynasty drafts but Winson should be in the first round.

It should also help the dynasty prospects of Evans, solidifying him as a WR1, and giving Seferian-Jenkins a great opportunity to be a TE1.
