Dynasty Impact – Saints select Brandin Cooks

cooksDynasty Impact: After trading up, the Saints get Brandin Cooks and his 4.33-speed. Putting him in the slot in that offense will lead to big numbers for Cooks right away and should be the second receiver off the board in dynasty rookie drafts. For Drew Brees, the Saints inject some youth in the receiving corps which should help sustain his crazy fantasy numbers. Cooks will be a high pick in 2014.

Dynasty Impact – Miami Dolphins select Ja’Wuan James, OT

jamesDynasty Impact: Perhaps the most obvious positional need in this draft, the Dolphins picked a player in James that could start right away. His strength is in the pass game so Tannehill’s stock should go up. The extra protection should help anyone catching a pass from Tannehill including Mike Wallace and Charles Clay. Could play both the right or left tackle position.

Dynasty Impact – Baltimore Ravens select C.J. Mosley, LB

NCAA Football: BCS Championship-Alabama vs LSUDynasty Impact: Playing inside, the Ravens fill the role they had hoped Arthur Brown would fill last year. Mosley could step right in and play alongside Daryl Smith who, surprisingly, came on strong last year and should help improve the Ravens defense overall. His smarts and quickness will fit perfectly in Baltimore where he could be a LB1/2 in dynasty formats right away. For Arthur Brown owners, stay tuned to see what role he’ll have.

Dynasty Impact – Dallas Cowboys select Zack Martin, OT

martinDynasty Impact: After passing on Johnny Manziel, the Cowboys go safe with tackle Zack Martin. Martin has the size and form to be a highly successful offensive lineman at the next level and could play anywhere. With Tyron Smith manning the left tackle position, Martin can conceivably play right tackle or left guard or anywhere really. This helps Tony Romo a ton along with DeMarco Murray.

Dynasty Impact – Pittsburgh Steelers select Ryan Shazier, LB

shazierDynasty Impact: Shazier will add even more talent to a good, young linebacking  corps in Pittsburgh. He could even play the middle which would only enhance his IDP value. Shazier is fast and plays to the ball despite lacking ideal size. However, Shazier could be a 100-tackle LB in IDP for many years to come. Could challenge Mosley for top ILB in rookie dynasty drafts.

Dynasty Impact – St. Louis Rams select Aaron Donald, DT

donaldDynasty Impact: Donald creates a fearsome defensive line with Robert Quinn and Chris Long. Averaged almost 10 sacks per game playing the interior and has the capability to do the same in the NFL. Perhaps has more benefit for Long and Quinn as more attention given to the inside means less on the outside. Quinn should continue his dominance while Long could see a resurgence. In real life, the Rams have the makings of a great defense.

Dynasty Impact – New York Giants select Odell Beckham, Jr., WR

beckhamDynasty Impact: After showing no confidence in Rueben Randle, the Giants pick what many scouts thought was the second best receiver in the draft. Not as tall as Watkins or Evans, ODB has great leaping ability and superior hands. Eli Manning dynasty owners should rejoice that they finally have a compliment to Victor Cruz. Cruz should benefit with less attention with Beckham being in the discussion for second receiver taken off the board in dynasty rookie drafts.
